I've started using this FREE application to download files from several popular file sharing sites. The program, Tucan Manager, will accept links from several file sharing sites. It ensures the links are valid and can download sequentially or concurrently. An added bonus is the automated captcha system to automate these downloads without the need for user intervention.

Quote
Give us the links, we'll cook the meal!

Supporting the main Hosters like RapidShare or MegaUpload, Tucan brings a new experience to users discouraged by other file sharing methods as p2p.
captcha

Tesseract OCR engine in combination with PIL library, grant Tucan the ability to solve any captcha whitout user action.

Tucan also manages waits between downloads and interchangeable links seamlessly, relieving the user from this nuisance.
Lightning Fast

Since Tucan is designed to be fast and lightweight from the ground up, you can enjoy all of its features without slowing down the rest of your system.

No more heavy runtimes like Java or .Net, Tucan has the smallest footprint you can get.
A friendly face everywhere

Whether you use Windows, GNU/Linux, or a Mac, Tucan is right at home on your desktop. With a simple but fully functional graphical interface, its appearance serves a confortable File Sharing experience on almost any computer.
gtklogo

Use of the GTK+ toolkit provides top level stability and superb performance.
The power of Open Source

Implemented in Python with a modular architecture in mind, Tucan can be easily extended. Furthermore, the whole source code is publicly available so everybody is invited to join and help us improve this amazing software.

Not only anyone can support new hosters with the Plugin Subsystem, but also updates can be deployed instantly by the Update Manager.

Moreover, there is an Addon Subsystem based on events which enables Tucan to grow much farther.

yeah you should try jDownloader, supports prob about 100 services.

http://jdownloader.org/

I've been using this for about 3 years. Though the downside is that it's java based.

Kick ass

I've ignored these types of services from inception due to the high nuisance factor.

These apps look like they eliminate most of the harrasment.

Nice find.

Steups at a man holdin back on us for THREE years, shame shame! Lol

Lol I knew about jdownloader but never had much luck with it. I left Tucan on overnight to download a dozen files and it kept retrying until all were downloaded :)

lol @woodyear.

I have rapid and hotfile premium, and have for the same period i've had jDownloader, i don't mind the paying the extra for the speed and reliability over torrents. But if there is netload, megaupload, fileserve, uploading etc links, the autocapture really makes it unobtrusive. Plus the reason why i started using jd was that when i purchased the premium accounts for the first time, i still needed a download manager, and it really does serve just about all your download needs. Youtube vids can be auto downloaded etc... Its really good. And the only downside is that java can be abit clunky :(  (But u go swear back when i was doing it in school it was the be all and end all eh!)
