i do...

lol i know you're trying to be a neutral... *i guess*, but you're also kinda sounding like a console fan boy... i aint calling you out, but that's what i think... *i think* LOL

anyways, the article should have been a bit more specific, and i find that reason for Microsoft not pushing cross-platform gaming to be very lame. Maybe it can stand for FPS games, but for other genres that excuse is very poor. It's obvious for full fledged FPS titles, accuracy wise, a good pc gamer would out play a guy on a console with an analog stick. FACT.. don't even argue, i say it's a waste of time. But that's it and that's where it will stay. There's an even playing ground for the other genres, they don't need that much quick aiming movement and accuracy.... bleh

I say is best this thread rest. I only see a a big senseless argument coming out of it.

I'd rather use a controller for playing racing games or sports games...playing FIFA with a keyboard and mouse is god awful iMO I respect all gamers that can play with a K&M...but Jah...
Also certain adventures games would be better like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, or the Spider-man games for example.
but I love my K+M for FPS and RTS games. hell yeah

You never went sweat in sns/euro/tech source huh ?

Keyboard players for fighters was normal, men used to fight to use keyboard back then.  Even I still play on kb when a stick is not available and rather it over controller. I know a good bit of people who could beat controller people (including all of allyuh) playing on keyboard.

@Phil
I'm sure that everyone immediately thought FPS when they read this. Why ? Its the most played genre on Live without a doubt.

Lol the never ending debate on controller vs. keyboard/mouse. I love both platforms but I always assumed that the keyboard/mouse combo > controller. I don't think Microsof t really cares though, the console business is their money train hehe.

Well my 2 dollars and 8 cents(dais how much I see infront of me now) on dis matter is dat it all depends on de time you put into ur controller of choice.
I have used a keyboard at one point in time to play Street Fighter 2 on MAME(only had one controller at de time) was actually real good with it since it is easier to get ur uppercut an ting with it.
On de shooter side same effect, after being away from my dear pc for so long and having no choice but to play MW2 on de 360 I noticed dat it is an adjustment to play with a controller when a k/m is ur first preference, but after a while you start not to notice and juss change to suit(well it helps dat I have experience with shooters on a controller)
And also after seeing fellahs like Spartan do some tings with a control in Gears I cyah say dat men on de k/m have a definite advantage as he was bussin seasoned men ass like first time.

Of course there will be exceptions...and Spartan/W1nTry bears testament to that, but thats one game.

Personally...I prefer kbam for FPS games mainly, and controller for everything else.  The mouse is a more precise pointing device.  Period.

...and with each new wave of new models, its getting even more so.

Why console manus haven't seen it fit to include native (wireless) kbam support from the firmware level for this
console generation is beyond me.  Some say it will 'segment' the market, but is that such a bad thing?  I say, give gamers a
choice through and through, and make it totally optional: include the functionality.  If you want, play any game with kbam.
You don't like it?  Then you can still play it with a controller if you want.  Lots of games are ported directly to the PC, so
don't tell me it can't be done.

With that said...I really wish I could use my existing mouse and keyboard on the consoles, and have them work error-free (especially on the PS3).

So based on what ppl have said so far, FPS==K&M (duh) and EVERYTHING else controller (at least by majority)... so that being said how many FPS titles are there out there compared to the SUM TOTAL OF EVERYTHING ELSE? anyone can tell me what is the logical reason for not having sucessfully implementing PC vs Xbox gaming by now?

And PS I would prefer a fighter on the K&M I SUCK and ALWAYS HAVE at analog controls in street fighter... even so the controller is still predominantly the control mechanics of choice.

So at capn, that was FAR more than 1 instance in which the controller is preferred. Where else is the K&M preferred? I doh see discrete controllers aka K&M in no arcade, funny that.

So based on what ppl have said so far, FPS==K&M (duh) and EVERYTHING else controller (at least by majority)...

Why limit ourselves to 2 controller schemes? Both pale in comparison to my saitek x52 for IL2, and neither really feel s great for racing.

Hell, a touchscreen helps in several games, console or not.

Should you wish to look at genres, then let's see...
racing - wheel?
fps - k+m
Adventure - k+m/controller - really depends on the game. Point and clickers really translate poorly
RTS - k+m
rpg - depends on build. Active worlds, and in depth action RPGs generally demand a mouse and keyboard.
Simulators - keyboard. When you start running out of keys, there's no substitute. mech warrior 3 - no way i'd get the control I did using a hand held controller.
fighting games - controller sure. I take a different route if is feel - with a keyboard, it's easy to bind any key to a series of key presses.

I don't see controllers in arcades either ('cept guns...) - heck, manufacturers are trying to minimize buttons on general consumer devices to keep costs down. a joystick built like a truck with the value of a pigiron chunk sets the tone for most arcade machines. I've never been able to wring a hadoken properly on those :P
:P random text doesn't go out of date does it?

if this the main reason for MS not launching a hybrid system to let PC gamer and xbox gamers to mesh, then they should not have even tried. This is a poor excuse. like others stated, there is no way a console gamer with a controller can match the accuracy of a keyboard and mouse in FPS games.. that's case in point. but as for other genres such as sports, third-person games, racing etc, the playin field is somewhat balanced. Playing sports on a kb+m is a nightmare.. and console gamers will wipe the floor with pc gamers.. but pc gamers also have the option of using controllers. I think Microsoft is just being biased towards pc gamers lately.. which is ironic since Windows + directx api rule the pc gaming industry. where would pc gaming be without Windows and its directx api's?

When was the last time you saw anything attention being given to Games for Windows Live? Cross platform gaming between the two should've been a reality by now.. Let's face it.. Whether or not we want to accept it, MS has abandoned us for Xbox... it's business.. Xbox is the cash cow...
Why don't you kiss my dual-sticks?
