Alice sequel coming in 2011, first screens inside
By Ben Kuchera | Last updated about 18 hours ago

It has been talked about for quite some time, but EA has finally shown off some assets from the sequel to the cult classic American McGee's Alice, called Alice: Madness Returns. At a press event earlier today, EA described the game as an action adventure, with the very broad release window of 2011.

Alice: Madness Returns takes place 10 years after the conclusion of the original game, with Alice struggling to recover from the emotional trauma of losing her entire family in a fatal fire. After spending a decade institutionalized in an insane asylum, she is finally released to the care of a psychiatrist who just may be able to help her conquer the nightmarish hallucinations that still haunt her. Alice embarks on a mission to root out the true cause of her family's mysterious death, jumping from a gloomy and stark London to a rich and provocative Wonderland.

There is a teaser trailer, some screenshots, an official site, and that's pretty much it. This is certainly a case of a creative team taking something that was already dark and twisted and making it slightly more dark and twisted, but the original game is still talked about fondly. Check out the official site for a brief trailer, and you can gaze upon a few screenshots to make the wait a little more tolerable.

I loved the first one. Hope this delivers as well.
Screens look good.

Btw, note that this is also in development for PC (I see this topic is in Console Gaming).

The game may be the sequel to a cult classic and not the most visually spectacular game considering what we're fortunate enough to see lately, but how's about they throw in the ORIGINAL for free?

Original PC Alice free with purchase of console Madness Returns
By Ben Kuchera | Last updated about 5 hours ago

We had first asked American McGee about the possibility of an Alice re-release during this year's Game Developers Conference, and he smiled and told us to follow up with EA. The publisher refused to comment one way or the other when we asked, but it's now official. When you buy the upcoming Alice title, you'll get a copy of the original game for free.

"Alice: Madness Returns, shipping on June 14, will include a one-time-use Online Pass registration code (for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360) that gives players access to the original cult-classic American McGee's Alice," EA announced. "Players that do not have the code can purchase American McGee's Alice for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and $9.99 on the PlayStation Network through the main menu of Alice: Madness Returns."

This is interesting in a number of ways. Unless you buy Madness Returns, you won't be able to purchase the original Alice title, which limits the audience for the download. This is a twist on the now-standard online pass, where gamers get access to online features when they buy the game new, but have to pay $10 to go online if the code has already been used. This time, instead of online play, you get an entire game for buying a new copy.

This isn't a bad idea, but we hope EA has plans to release the original Alice as a standalone download in the future for fans who may not want to spend $60 on the new experience.

Technically this now also belongs in the the console thread seeing as it's the CONSOLE version that allows you to play the original... just didn't want to duplicate threads.

^^ I meant you should be able to tell by now which are true AAA titles and those that are just gonna be ok.

All I saw was an "ok" sequel to the first game tbh. Then again I had no intentions of playing this lol

Well most of the DNF game was already made way back hence the dated feel, I still dig it.

As for Dungeon Siege 3 I'll admit was excited for that then I saw Obsidian was making it so......they made that game Alpha protocol so yea.... lol
