Over 30,000 Rape-Axe condoms are being handed out free at South Africa's World Cup. While they won't stop rape, the condoms (worn by women) have jagged-teeth inside to tear penises up, and can only be removed by doctors.

As persons who commented on the article stated, won't this make said rapist go "Chris Brown" on a woman after encountering this anti-penis device???

I don't know how effective that will be, seems like a change/education in values is necessary. With a huge percentage of the male population > 25% having raped women, how will such a device reduce that. They will probably start checking for those condoms.

They need to prosecute the criminals, seems like rape isn't seen as much of a crime.

yes education is needed, yes it needs to be treated as a serious crime, yes some aspects of the culture need to change
but those things take time, and in the mean time women are still raped.
After a man rapes a woman with one of these on, he will never be able to do so again.

Keep in mind ppl this is a REACTION ration than Pro-active solution. This is a means to fight the symptoms and not the cause. Consider that for this measure to even be effective, the individual is ALREADY in a position no woman should have to be in. She could be already physically injured and regardless of whether this does damage to the offender, the woman IS PENETRATED, so she is still violated. The NEED for serious ENFORCED penalties and social programs to deal with the psychological factors that lead to this being so wide spread are the only ways to reach the point where this device isn't even needed.
