Hear what i doh know bout how u guys feel about privacy in your respective homes n what not... But i'de be willing to take a blind folded trip in a maxi to visit you guys homes to hear and see these setups in person... And have no fear i'll walk with my own soap, towels and extra underwears when i wet myself seeing it in person....
lol, mailman will probably show up dressed like this.
My setup simple Z5500 in living room dvd player with coax out, optical for XBox when it outside, Sharp Aquos 32"AOC 32" in bedroom with Z2300, however my newest baby is my Sharkoon Xtatic headset.. so I very well may start using those for everything XD
Chris, your setup is very similar to mine. One big question, I was told by the oracle (aka google search) that using optical out from the TV to the speakers would be a bad idea. In that, the TV can't do 5.1 processing, so you'll only get stereo. That is, from the HDMI sources, like your xbox 360 and PS3 for example. So Xbox 360 (5.1) -> To TV via HDMI (5.1) - To Logitech 5500 via Optical. (Stereo)The oracle said you'd need a receiver to maintain the 5.1 from the HDMI to the Optical. So it would beXbox 360 (5.1) -> to receiver via HMDI (5.1) - To Logitech 5500 via optical (5.1) and TV via HDMI (for Video signal)What has been your experience? Is it that you've gotten your LG to do 5.1
very interesting.Well I'll give that a try tonight. Hope I can find that bloody optical cable I bought.
I tried it and this is the strange thing and deal breaker.Apparently, once the output from my TV is "optical" the Sharp Aquos can no longer control the volume. That means, you have to use either the Z5500 remote or the dial on its receiver to control volume. Most upsetting. To make matters worse, the Z5500 cannot be programmed into the Synergy V universal remote control. Double Steups. So I can take a leap forward in audio quality (optical) but I'd have to take a leap backwards in usability (using two remotes instead of one).I'm not OCD but I'd really prefer to use just the one. Its pissing me off.Scoured google for a universal remote code for the Z5500 to no avail. It just doesn't exist. looks like Logitech is more interested in you ponying up $150 for a harmony remote to get this simple task (adjusting volume) done.It was cool watching Tekken in surround sound though. If things look good for Christmas, I'll bite the bullet and get one of those bloody Harmony remotes but I won't be happy!Damn you logitech and sharp.
