Mouse and Pad: What's your 2010 weapon of Choice?

Gosh boy allyuh real tempting me with them keyboards and mice, g15v2 and g9x/deathadder just because I like shiny new things. Thing is my current setup is working fine so I find it hard to justify that spend.

Well I finally gave in and got the g15. It is really nice, my two favourite features are the lighted keys and the best one by far is the LCD which seems to provide information for every living thing one could want.

My only gripe is that it could have had another colour option, say a nice deep blue for the screen and keys. Other than that minor gripe, its perfect.

Now to christen it with some battlefield and dirt later.

The only other thing is that I would like to get a mouse to match the calibur of this keyboard. Im looking at the g9 pretty hard but the only thing I am worried about is the ergonomics.

I saw a vid on youtube when I was researching the g9 recently and I like how it is built.  It looks like it will suit me, big enough dat I dont have to claw it like my current mouse.

lol I have a g9 and you can't go wrong with how many options you have in setting it up from the interchangeable grips  to the weights not to mention changing  sensistivity on the fly AND you can also change colour of the led lights on the mouse itself.....

The g9x is out also but it's your call, with that type of keyboard it deserves a good wife for a mouse

Yes I am eyeing the g9 (they say the g9x is only very slightly different than the g9) so with these recommendations I think I'll bite.

After some serious research, Ive settled on the g500 from Logitech.

The small size of the g9/x have me worried as my hands are larger than average and it seems more suited to a claw rather than my palming style. Something about the look of it never really sit right with me.

The g900 is based upon the same tried and tested design of the mx518 and also the (mx500 which I currently use and love) and with the added precision and weight control of the g9.

Wow awesome.... thanks for doing all dat research for me sucka, now I dont have to.  I had no idea what to choose when I get around to upgrading my mouse, when you get it post up some pic nah. 
Going thru de same problem with you as my hands are large also, when I got my current mouse initially it hurt my hands and wrist when I had to keep it in dat claw position.

the g500 = win.

As mentioned before, I retreated from my G9 to the mx500. When it dies, if I can't find another mx500 on the market, the G500 is what I'll upgrade too....looks like a worthy successor.

What is your reason for not using the g9 wyatt? Ive read countless reviews and I saw mention of it being uncomfortable just a tad too many times. Some said it was too small. Also many people spoke of he-man like strength required to press down on the middle mouse button.

Now i'm all for upper finger strength but when wyatt play fass and present himself infront of me, I want to quickly dispatch that and move on to notnice.

Yes yes I use the middle mouse button for knifing and yes I can find another button for the same functionality, just another one of my wierd quirks but it has worked for many years and its not about to change.

The sidewinder x8 was next on the hitlist and it has some impressive features. The wireless accuracy of the thing and long battery life is just pure win, even if I dont care for wireless connectivity. The ability to save multiple profiles on the mouse itself also wins. Again, the shape and questionable comfort made me hesitant. I also saw reports of complaints that it is too heavy making it sometimes difficult to find perfect aim, less than smooth sliding and inconsistent tracking across surfaces, especially on the SteelSeries QcK xxl I ordered.

Also as good as the wireless component may be, the question is how well it will stand up over time.

Choosing a mouse is much like choosing clothes or shoes. You need to find one that suits YOU. I know some of you will swear by the g9 or the x8 and you are absolutely satisfied in your choice.

In my case, luckily, I found a design in the mx500 that is perfect fit for me so the g500 choice was the only way to go.
