Like one would argue with the RROD or a bad egg PS3, i've had quite a few unfortunate PC incidents on the PC cause like you Wyatt, i've not given up on the PC, but when it comes to getting my multi fix the Xbox has taken 1st place in my heart. Let's see what's happened to me in my PC realm.
I upgraded my Case 900TT
My Video Card 1600TT (which has gone from a HD4870X2 to a HD4870-in fact I am not even sure it's working now! great!)
I've lost a PSU within the last year 700W thermaltake replacement 900TT

On the software front, I had Force Unleashed, GOW and SCII installed running happily. Then one day came home and Force Unleashed artifacting, GOW not even running and I didn't install or CHANGE SH1T... uninstalled all to free up the space. ONLY SCII still works. OH btw I tried a driver update NADA both GOW and FU were screwed... I figured a windows update did the deed. Then there's Viruses which on a RARE occasion bother me, or at least seem to bother my antivirus software (which if I wanted a good one like Kaspersky i'd have to pay for). And these are just the issues I have atm.

On the console, I don't worry about viruses, drivers, OS updates, hardware updates etc. THe experience is going to be consistent. On the PC because everything CAN be better I find it hard to SETTLE for LESS. Sure you built a rig umteen years ago and it's still running all games, but does it run AS GOOD AS Capn awesome? or Arc? or Messiaah? I HIGHLY doubt it. As Czar said, he pays for Live and expects the extract EVERYTHING out of it. On the PC to Extract EVERYTHING you need the best fullstop.

The most I can say is that they've improved the matchmaking, we're actually getting into games with the full team and not dropping as often. So I can only hope they continue to improve.

On another note Blink is ALWAYS screwy...

lol @ Doom. This is healthy discussion, each party weighing in pro's and cons of running black ops on any one platform.

You have had some bad luck with ur pc hardware, i'll give you that. Most times, that isnt the case though. As for looks, he might not be able to pump up the graphics as high as I can but even on his 'behind the times' machine, his IQ is most likely still better than yours XD

So doom daz how you dropping it? Doh let me see you on the map tonight.

bullet.

w1n, I've been running AVG Free for years. Haven't gotten an infection or any virus problem (knock on wood)

Never spent $$ on a new case. Running the same one for the past six years and it cost only about TT$300 back then.

Even with my modest specs (3ghz dual core, 4gb ram, 4870) my PC totally wtfpwnz all three of my "next gen" consoles for graphics and performance. I don't need to be at the pinnacle of the PC experience with a Chuck Norris Class Gaming PC like Messiah, Awesome, FirstChoicett, Hard O/C, etc..... to surpass these consoles.

Suffice it to say that all hardware (PC and Consoles included) can and do fail.

I'm not sure what caused your PC to go wonky, but it isn't indicative of my experience with the platform. The only gaming hardware failure I experienced in recent times was my Wii. (It stopped reading discs so I bought a new one) PC, 360 and PS3 going strong.

To be fair, the Wii got the most work by far out, of all the consoles so that may explain why it went belly up. We used to run that thing like 24/7.

You missed my point about having the best platform and wanting the BEST out of it :p
The consoles provide a very good level of eye candy, in fact GOW was the first game to WOW me with graphics on ANY platform when it launched. No PC title as GORGEOUS as it is (save crysis) has done the same since.
I own a console, I expect certain things, and it lives up to that more times than not, on the PC if I can't see a game in all its glory, it's just not as fulfilling. Though the online experience can and does make up for it.
And just outta curiosity, you've been comparing the Xbox titles graphically to the PC, what about games ike Killzone? (would the socerers ... underling step in here)

I'm not even talking about using it, don't you EVER look at the video settings for a game and crank it to FULL JUST to SEE what it looks like? even if it runs like a bad MS powerpoint presentation?

I have, I tried to run crysis on my (then) 8800GT and OMFG... it was HORRIBLE... I just can't handle that. Would you play SC II if you HAD to play it on the LOWEST settings? (I nkow that feeling as when my HD4870X2 DIED or turned into a HD4870) I was left with FREAKING ONBOARD... it was like playing SC I.... O_O... whilst it WORKED it RUINS the experience imho...
And just to point something out, Redlum gaming PC also went belly up water cooling and all. So i'm SURE LOTS of us have had bad experiences with the PC just as on the console. (Just the PC ones are more expensive :p)

that's the thing, I play all the games on "high" even with those modest specs.

I never venture into "ultra high". Draw the line there on performance vs prettiness.

If I win lotto, well ultra high here I come!

Crysis is a bad example, that was just a tech demo that you could play. Everyone knows that engine was just coded badly. Look at the Frostbite engine in BC2. Imo that looks much better than Crysis and demands a lot less overhead.

even a 4870 1gig will push it @ close to 60fps on 16x10, even with a bit of AA applied.

Yeah, ive seen BC2 on the 360 and coming from a pc, it looks TERRIBLE by comparison. It was choppy, jagged lines everywhere central. Not to mention that god awful matchmaking thing. *shudder*

So after all this, I've decided to also download Bops on the lappy and run games with you guys with my Xbox Controller...yes I said it...my XBox Controller. I want to see how I do playing with you guys against some foreigners playing with what I am used to.

Currently on the Xbox, against foreigners, my KDR is a decent 1.84. I am curious how badly that will drop once I play on the PC version. Yes I know there is no auto aim, which funny at that, I feel gets more in my way on the Xbox. So...I shall be setting that to download once I get home and hopefully will be meeting Cap, Wyatt, Berserk and Redfish on the Black Ops PC Battlefield in the next few days.. :D
