I'm getting some ridiculous slowdown issues with this game. Even the game menu lags for a while. From what I've read on the Steam forums and elsewhere, the issue is widespread. No choice but to ignore this until they release a fix. It's irritating cuz apparently it's running fine for others.
You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount.

http://www.strategyinformer.com/news/9799/pc-gamers-suffer-with-call-of-duty-black-ops

I think this video showcases the 'stuttering' issue everyone is getting. word is its a bad memory leak.

i tried a task manager fix, where I go to processes (in task manager) and put steam to low priority, and black ops multiplayer (it has to be running in the background) to high priority.

this helped a bit, but it is not an overall fix. A patch is definitely needed.

They need to fix that stuttering and they need to fix that server browser so that people can see all servers.

As it is now, the timer counting down for fees due and we cant even use the server because of this issue.

I'm assuming this issue is only on PC? Game runs like butter on the Xbox 360...Enjoying this game so much, I'm sorry to say Halo Reach has to take a little backseat for a while..*sniff sniff* So much to do in Black Ops....*SIGH*

steups @ redlum.

anyone running this on ps3? how is it?

here is some info from gameservers on the inability to see servers the lag etc.

Quote
Here is a summary of the current hot topics that we have been seeing in our support systems and community forums. We will do our best in keeping this list up to date and to add additional topics to this list as they come. Feel free to reply to this thread but be sure to keep things as constructive as possible. We have a direct line into Treyarch for any and all issues that we see and they are listening loud and clear.

- Can't find my server in the browser

Due to huge volume of traffic that is occurring on the back-end systems, a temporary fix was put into place to randomly limit the amount of servers that are listed on the browser. This is a temporary fix and we will provide an update once it has been fixed.

- Can't connect to my server using the RCON Tool

We have been getting reports that there has been connection issues between the RCON tool and servers. We are still investigating this issue and hope to find the root cause shortly.

- My hostname gets overwritten after setting it in the RCON Tool

A fix for this should be coming in on 11/10/2010. Changes to your hostname via the my.gameservers.com control panel will work through the same mechanisms as the RCON Tool which will in turn preserve any hostname changes that you make even on reboot.

- Servers crashes

We have seen a few reports of server crashes, but compared to the quantity of servers that have been deployed, the percentages are low. However, logs will be examined on all reported cases in order to isolate any possible issues.

- Server Lag

Reports of lag occurring in game has been reported and we are taking a very serious look into this. From a server perspective, we do not see any evidence of any resource utilization issues on the hardware that the servers are running on. There has been questions regarding our hardware and to address that, each server that is running Black Ops is brand new built specifically for Black Ops.

link here, gotta scroll down a bit.

Day 1 teething problems eh...

Thats becoming somewhat of a habit now.  I keep saying it: if you don't
conduct an open beta, then you cannot predict what will happen on day 1 when
EVERYBODY tries to play online at the same time.  Treyarch alone is to blame for that.

I'm sorry to hear of the problems you guys are getting...but to use local parlance, 'it good'.

OK, I jus keeding there. :laughing7:

I hope this is fixed by month-end, or I won't bother buying it.  I am no longer pre-ordering any game to avoid all that day 1 frustration....especially when there's no MP beta to give us an idea of the issues.

Game actually is pretty fun.
I'm not having as much issues as others are.
There is the slight hicup, but it doesn't even last a proper second, and its not so often to make it unplayable.
Overall, i'm not dis-satisfied with my pre order

Only thing now is to wait for that fix so ah could play with the rest ah ppl from trini :P
