I don't know why people keep insisting on comparing COD to BF....tired of that already....Two separate games, two different styles of gameplay...at least Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer listened to the community and got rid of some annoying perks like "last stand" and "Commando" and this title seems more balanced...so its a WIN WIN for COD fans, and as for BF, they are getting what they always got, team based play and vehicles...so lets all agree that this COD vs. BF talk is pointless...

agreed.

Anything to justify that purchase eh Red (and by extension, W1n)?  :laughing7:

Look like Bobby done have allyuh money.

...and now (based on what we've seen thus far) there is NO comparison anymore, so yes, the BF vs COD talk IS pointless.

Have fun with your (latest) 60-dollar DLC.

lol I have to agree with Arc. They are two separate games very different styles but the difference is that one has had MUCH more effort put into it than the other.

After watching that latest MW3 trailer, I have to say that all the sounds eg explosions, gunfire, GRAPHICS are THE SAME as they were in titles from 2 years ago. So they took out some of the overpowered perks and added some maps but I tell you, all they needed to do to achieve that was to release one patch for mw2 and instantly you have mw3.

Not bashing COD fans, I myself was one up until a year or two ago when I saw the light but really, those fans out there have to ask themselves. Is the """"new""" stuff they're getting really worth $60 us? I say helllll no. Still, i'm sure there are at least 100 million people out there who will disagree. I'm certainly not one of them.

Switching over to Battlefield, the basic premise of the game has not changed from its predecessor, large maps, infantry and vehicles up the rass but very importantly, EVERYTHING else has changed from weaponry, sound, graphics, physics, animations the whole 9. Over on this side, there's MORE than enough newness and goodness to justify its price tag, its water tank runneth over with EPIC win!!

COD fans, save some money and stick with BO and MW2. How many years running are you gonna let these people take your hard earned money and run all the way to the bank before you realise whats going on????????? This $hit is now insanity!!!

I think Shiv will disagree on that copy and paste crap people are talking about..the man knows first hand what work went into MW3 and he will disagree on that view I am sure. I've heard that 16 maps are coming with MW3, how many for BF3? I am buying BOTH games because I enjoy both, different styles of play as I said, but to say MW3 is nothing new and took less work to make is not a very good assumption..

I invite you to watch the video in reply 112 of this thread. Remember, i've played ALL cods to date (except COD3) so I know what i'm talking about when I say that this looks exactly like mw1 which looks like mw2 which looks like BO which looks like mw3.

Again, just to be clear, I am not hating on COD fans. So my apologies in advance to anyone who will be offended with the copy paste talk. Sure there might have been a lot of work gone into it but at the end of the day its the final result that will be seen and that game in that video looks and sounds EXACTLY like previous titles. I put no water in my mouth to say that anyone who disagrees is clearly either delusional or is on the payroll.

There's simply nothing there that could not have been patched into previous titles and sold as a map pack/upgrade for $20/25 max. The mere fact that this is listed as a new game and is demanding a $60 price tag is downright skulldugery. Dust off your older titles and enjoy, you already have mw3 on your DVD/hard drive.

PS, I like that thing that jumps in the air and explodes on proximity. Hello, claymore 2.0.

he could disagree all he wanted to but still doesn't change the fact that the game is copy and paste, when i saw the first trailer i said is look similar but after seeing the gameplay everything looks the same, emblems, animation, killstreaks down to the way u roll over and die is the same. I mean c'mon if anyone can say they put alot of hard work and effort into the game then why the hell does it look like a clone i wasn't expecting a revolutionary game but sheesh.
All that hard work they put in apparently went into just adding some new *cough* features, colors and different looking guns. And i see alot of abuse/overuse coming from that proximity mine.

I still don't understand why so much people hate MW2, I loved it and still do, I love MW1 as well and I'm going to love MW3 all the same. It will be even better than MW2 because of native dedicated servers.

If you don't like it, don't bash the people that do, calling them retarded/dumb/ignorant/{insert_insult_here}. People have different tastes and some people still love the cod series, saying things like "they haven't seen the light, they're idiots" is just a matter of opinion and one that you're entitled to, however, this kind of talk only leads to repeated verbal abuse and division among gamers.

They're 2 DIFFERENT games;
- one has small maps and close combat play.
- the other insanely large maps, vehicles and long distance combat.

Trying to compare them is like comparing football and cricket (not the best example I know), they appeal to different and varying audiences and as such you have to accept that not everyone will have the same opinion as you.

This also applies to all the cod guys bashing the BF fans. I admit I spout my biased claims as well, but I do it all in good nature when I know that the atmosphere is friendly and nothing will be taken seriously.

This isn't aimed at anyone in particular but to all those who have had something negative to say about cod fans.

Here's a challenge then, those who find fault in COD being COD and apparently not having anything "NEW", propose what you would like to see in the next iteration of COD then....since Activision/Infinity Ward/SledgeHammer/Treyarch have been doing so wrong for the millions of COD players. What "NEW" thing would you like to see from COD? Hmm? Oh wait, then it won't be COD anymore, since it will be changing what COD is...not so? Want it to look more like BF? then people to say, oh look, COD is copying BF...Copy Halo? Copy Crysis? Should they just stop making COD all together? I think this would be a good exercise to see what gamers want from Call of Duty instead of bashing it since it doesn't have anything new..

the one pull in this for me is the free dedicated servers. Will see how that pans out. Otherwise not wowed at all just yet.

This is a fantastic development and should not be underplayed.

Battlefield 3 will not....I repeat....will not have dedicated server support.

Basically we have to beg and plead to get a local Battlefield server and the chance of that happening is slim to none. (based on what notnice and cptawesome have fed back after their efforts to secure one)

Not so with with MW3. That feature means we can have a local sweat with LAN like pings. Next to no latency. I for one CANNOT wait!

Been relatively quiet on the copy and paste issue but I'll give my 2 cents now since the discussion is at a fever pitch.

I've played every version of street fighter. Thrown a hadoken in no less than 10 different iterations. Paid for with hard $$. I support capcom (and yes they can get a bit ridiculous with it) but I'm a fan. If this keeps street fighter alive, they can count on my money.

Likewise for games like Fifa. Every year, you get basically a slightly upgraded version.

I'm happy that Battlefield 3 is pushing the envelope....but I think we can harp about that (and we do) enough in the battlefield 3 thread. Every game doesn't have to bring a revolution with each release.

Seen enough content with MW3 to justify the spend. The campaign is also worth the price of admission alone for those who enjoy a good single player experience (based on their track record). It has trumped many other games (battlefield included) in that regard year after year.

you lost me at hooray.

Are you being sarcastic? Or are you supporting the idea that this is the CoD thread, intended to highlight the upcoming release and drum up hype for the game? We have a battlefield thread to espouse the greatness of that game there.

As for pings. I am happy you don't have a problem with them. Me? I would prefer 30ms ping to a local server in Trinidad over 110ms to a foreign server in Atlanta ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I will use this analogy then...comparing COD with BF is like comparing apples and oranges.
Apples have 1 core, Oranges might have 10 seeds, sometimes more or sometimes less...If a man eating an apple and complaining, damn, the Orange have 10 seeds, how come the apple doh have 2 cores? or 3 cores? I not eating another apple until it has something new, like 2 cores instead of the same ole 1 that the last 5 apples I ate had..that man will basically miss out on apples...and end up with acid reflux from eating all the oranges... LOL

i could tell yuh exactly where all this hate comes from....MW2
the PC contingent felt burned badly by it and ever since they been bashin it heavily. Prior to that they were all on the cod bandwagon and loved it without question.

lets look at the shooter genre as a whole...what more can actually be done to do something new?
BF has a new coat of paint but hasnt really revamped the series or done anything new really? which is why i really cannot understand all the hype for BF

COD is doin the same
Halo has been practically the same game
Killzone is basically the same game  from 2 to 3
Resistance hasnt changed much

what i would like to see is that with this new elite subscription deal rakin in money for them they move cod to a 2 year release cycle between each game.

I havent yet seen anyone in here "hate" on MW3. If constructive criticism is now considered "hate", I am sorry but you're missing the point completely.

I find it very appalling that people see absolutely no problem with paying $60 for a map pack. True, the basics of BF3 has not changed but ALL the other little details have!! For the love of God, how you gonna charge people $60 for the SAME audio effects, the SAME graphics and almost the same everything else??

Maybe i'm not clear, maybe I have to speak a different language. I re-iterate, I have nothing against COD but if you own MW2 and MW1, you already HAVE MW3!!!
