Mouse and Pad: What's your 2010 weapon of Choice?
« on: March 26, 2010, 04:19:30 PM »
What is your current killing tool? and by that I mean particularly your mouse and mouse pad.

Those of you who are GATT veterans, will remember how fond I am of hard mouse surfaces. Starting with the appropriately named everglide attack pad a million years ago. Marrying that with a Microsoft Intellimouse was a sure path to gaming supremacy.

Tested, tried and true by many in the gamedom.

Then came the MX500 era. Logitech's foray into the war proved man's best friend when it came to virtual manslaughter. Especially when paired with the Attack Pad's bigger brother, the Giganta.

Fast forward to 2010 and I sit before you armed with something new and something old.

The logitech G9 needs no introduction. Part mouse, part machine and quite likely an early skynet prototype, it practically kills enemies on it's own while you just tag along for the ride.
Not content with that, this beast also transforms. Comes complete with two housings and various weights so you can customize it to any grip and resistance that feels best to you. I released those shackles and use it commando. No weights, no housing. Just pure unencumbered death. (Think the T101 without flesh)

Now for the old. The peculiarity in the current setup, a steelseries cloth pad. (Could hear the audible gasps). Yes, cloth.

It is massive, rivaling the Giganta but is as responsive thanks to the 3M precision like surface.

Steel Series are known for their hard pads, made out of steel typically. However, they saw fit to roll out a cloth version and this baby does not disappoint.

That's my setup today.

What's yours?

Suhuweat!!!!!!!!

Hmm...I still kinda like the cloth surfaces sometimes...

So I have the current combo:

Mouse: Razer Diamondback 3G

Pad: EVO-G IMP1 - Tri-illuminated pad.

Does the job pretty well enough, now facing the prospect of getting another Razer for my sis cuz she's grown accostomed to the speed of the Razer... :(

Tempted to get the ergonomic offering from Razer for southpaws...specifically this little gem:

that tri-illuminated pad is cloth?? It looking wicked though.

Tried the razer once and it was very very capable. Still retreated to my MX500 at the time but no doubt the razer is a deadly weapon.

I simply MUST have wireless, from the Logitech MX700, to the G7, but now, both of those very capable mice have been replaced by the

Sidewinder X8

Superior mousing surface duties provided by the...

Razer Destructor

...simply one of THE best surfaces for high-DPI laser mice for about 34 US.

Best peripheral money I ever spent.  So much so that I bought TWO of each.  :)

i used the g7 (excelent) followed by d saitek cyborg mouse (predicessor to the upcoming R.A.T.). D cord on d cyborg started shortin doh :S, so i ultimately end up buying ah mx revolution, to go back wireless, and i had die down on d gaming also.

Now dat i start back freaking, lookin fuha h gaming mouse, was goign buy d G9, but saw d R.A.T., i prefer to go wireless, so right now is between d R.A.T. and d microsfot mouse arcman have. I studying to even get both and settle on one after. So i mite buy dmicrosfot one now since it avaiable, den get d R.A.T. after, den sell d one i not keeping.

Dis was my mousemat:

left it in trini doh, hada get another one, wil check out steel series too, i dont like running out of mouse mat space, so dat mat i buy was really ah MAT, keyboard eveyrthing ontop dat bitch lol

Yeah, the main surface is cloth...only the edges are carbon fibre etc, the LEDs in it are not all that bright, but that's a good thing, it doesn't distract too greatly. Lights up in red, green or blue (powered by USB - colour and intensity are controlled by a switch on the cable). I had a Thermaltake illuminated pad before, but the hard surface didn't agree with me too much.

Sometime I may switch over to that Razer Destructor pad, one of my crew has one and it works like a charm.

A lot of gaming mice I could never really consider since they're usually designed for righties...thank god at least Razer has decided to make one for gamers like me after all this time.
