Ok so time finally come to get a new system (only going for amd processors) i'm stuck between these two processors
at the moment
the phenom II x4 965 and the Fx 4170 quad
any recommendations on either would be appreciated.

i also checked benchmarks and they seem similar in performance wise, but i'm seeing some chatter saying the bulldozer isn't really all that good.

I would wait till black Friday/cyber Monday comes around to get a good deal, you might even pick up a hexa-core for the same price.

Phenom II x6...get one.

Still better than Bulldozer and Vishera (unless you wanna overclock them to the max and suck up a lot of electricity in the process JUST to slightly edge out the PII x6).

Or go Intel 3570k/Z77 board.

no intel especially that expensive 3570k, the most stressful thing this system wud be doing is running stuff like maxon studio 4d /unreal engine /unity that kinda thing, also trying to remain in the 90-110 price range

Ok no intel then.

I still recommend the Phenom II x6 though.

But if u still keeping those quads as your choices i'd say the 965 cpu would be the better of the two. Highly suggest you get the 125w too as the 140w runs a bit hot and uses a lil too much electricity.

The 3570 is about US$219

Not really that expensive in the scheme of things but I understand where you're coming from. You need to draw the line with these processor prices. Could get real out of hand.

Personally made a pledge many many moons ago not to buy a CPU over US$300 on principle. Regardless of how sweetly it is marketed by Intel. lol

I did slightly break that pledge with this I7 2600K currently running in Anya. Cost US$318.00

However, it did come with a digital copy of Battlefield 3 (then worth about us$49.99) so when you take that into consideration, the price was within budget.

i'll keep an eye out for the x6 during cyber monday to see what combo i can get with it, and @wyatt if i didn't have my certifications to pay for that wud have been my first choice cuz i wanted to go intel this time. Nevertheless i'm using a dual core 5200+ @2.7Ghz right now so anyone of those quads to me right now is futuristic compared to my current steup.

lol @ futuristc.

I hear ya bro.

The dual cores have been old faithfuls though. I still got two doing yeoman's service at home.

Some budget gaming systems can do wonders with a dual core I3 and a decent graphics card.

Two words... Air. Superiority.
I guess we can put the 'which franchise is better' argument to rest now.....

What's that COD sheep?  Didn't quite catch that over the sound of how awesome this game is.  :happy0203:

Yeah...the bar was raised to a new and probably unattainable height when this game was released.

End Game is upon us...Capture The Flag is more MANIC than I ever thought it could be.  Lawd Jeezus.  :notworthy:

One of the new CTF maps.....

The bikes are put to great use in all these maps, with lots of insane jumps.
Wait for the inevitable flood of gameplay videos.  :laughing7:

...and of course, Air Superiority mode is suitably epic.
Let me stress on the word 'Superiority'...because all the players here KNOW how to fly.
Don't even bother if you can't tell the difference between an aileron and an elevator. :laughing7:

So, here we are...18 months later. What have we learned?

That overall...Battlefield 3 is hands-down THE best, THE pinnacle, THE apex-predator of online multiplayer warfare.  Truly all-aspect in scope, engagement, and just goddamned FUN to play.

You will not find another online MP shooter that can truly compete with the wide gamut of gameplay options on offer from this title.  DICE has shown the entire industry how it's supposed to
be done.  The bar has well and truly been raised.  I shudder to think of the creativity and effort required to craft Battlefield 4.  I really think DICE should have given this game more time
to age gracefully before beginning development on BF4.

So now my BF3 install folder is a whopping THIRTY-THREE gigabytes, but it's 33 of the sweetest GB ever.  :)

Feel free to disagree with me of course.  :)
