I understand if the government hire udecott to put down some construction and then they do crap. The government will get flak but udecott will also come under some serious fire for mismanagement.

I'd have to surmise that you might be a PNM (or at least, a PNM-in-training ).


...and LAY Management Group just as culpable, since they were the ones GIVEN the contract to organise the whole affair.
How much experience did this new 'company' have in events management?  My guess is...none, but Lara is bmobile 'BFF', so guess what...he gets a plum
contract to pull this show together, and from all accounts, its obvious that he and his team are TOTAL n00bs.

I am sure some of those same patrons who attended all inclusives over the Carnival season were quite impressed by the selection of food and drinks,
and service that they paid for...and it was nowhere NEAR 1600 dollars.  So what was the EXTRA thousand dollars for?  Bake and shark and corn soup?
No water for sinks, and no toilet tissue?  Shitty flooring?  Inadequate sound system?

TSTT and LAY owes them patrons a public apology at best, instead of the self-back-patting they carrying on with.

Issues
Among the issues raised by patrons:
1. Too much dust
2. Both males and females forced to use the same toilets
3. Lack of water, lights and toilet paper
4. Due to poor layout, difficulty by VIP and general patrons to see Beyoncé perform
5. Poor communication between security and organisers, leaving some people confused
6. Lack of promised shuttle service forced patrons to walk from the Savannah to King George V Park to get to their vehicles
7. Extremely long lines for food

I think they need to make it very clear what is included for this kind of money yes.

A proper floor plan as well that is contractual. No show one lay out and on the day, drop another on your ass and say "tough".

A napa like building is what we need. Not these scrapped together concert venues in the bush.

LAY events = Lara and Yorke...

they were GIVEN the contract, no tendering process whatsoever. Is kinda like what went on with Udecott and Calder Hart hiring these fly by night companies to do the work. Now i was aware of the planning process for this concert more than a year ago (my company gets a lot of work from bmobile normally) but LAY events were not mentioned as being involved until about 6 months before the event, prior to that there was another name involved.

Actually I too hungry to bother XD I've listened to RP live in her comedy shows and I listen to her occasionally on the radio. Tasteless is Howard Stern and many other radio announcers however I would not make a direct comparison of her to the likes of stern. Many of her jokes are SELF deprecating and though her words may at times seem 'raucous' I would not dub her tasteless. Otherwise i'd have to place that title on ALL 'trini' comedy artists. Might as well redub the Caribbean Laugh Festivals and ALL 'TRINI' comedy shows as tasteless. While we're at it, let's call plays we put on like the critically ACCLAIMED 'MARY CAN DANCE' as tasteless.

My point is Trinidad is known for having a 'bachannal' skew on comedy and the personalities Associated with said profession. What SPECIFICALLY do you consider tasteless rb? and seeing as you do, what OTHER (and i'm sure the list HAS to be LARGE) ppl in the public eye of T&T and the world (trini in origin) are tasteless?

As for Beyonce palancing, I do give JW & Blaze some props no doubt, still a 7 second wine is insufficient for me, that's all.

@ Wyatt: We do have ALOT of talent and publicity that is spread all over the world no doubt, but our music is YET to reach the level of mainstream that even DANCEHALL and Reggae has achieved. Carnival is spreading all over the world yes, chutney even (though I think Japan is a moot point n00b seeing as boy boy brought japanese dancers so it's EASY to make a direct connection despite distance not to mention the TONNES of CRAP foreign used we buy from them), but do we have our local artists being globally being recognised in grammys and the like? Do we have a Trini Soca artist in the rock and roll hall of fame? Have the LOCAL promoters gotten past their NARROW MINDED STRANGLE HOLD of the music industry in T&T? Being a good friend of a few soca artists and hearing them talk about how Soca MONARCH is A FARCE and how it's KNOWN beforehand who is GOING TO win. I for one am of the opinion that our music isn't NEARLY as recognised as IT COULD BE, if it were managed, promoted and supported by T&T and the T&T Government as it should be.

OUr music still has a THROW AWAY mentality, i've said all this before. Whilst we FIGHT down each other for a small piece of the pie, watch and see someone in some other large developed nation will STEAL it from us and make it better and BIGGER than we ARE doing ourselves.

Case in point the STEEL PAN. IMAGINE we doh have a DAMN PATENT for the last musical instrument made in the 20th century though its WORLD KNOWN that it originated from here? What do you think the G-pan is? its' more than just development, as stated by Prof B. Copeland (my former head of Elect Eng UWI) we don't have any 'rights' to the royalties that are OWED to us for the steel pan. Imagine there are FOREIGN STEEL BANDS doing better (financially) than our OWN WINNERS OF PANORAMA. Our music and culture is NOT promoted as it SHOULD be. But hey we have a blind man leading a bunch of sycophantic hypocrites we call politicians so what can we expect. We say something was a problem, they put a FAT ASS HOG of a WOMAN to say, I was dere whole day and NOTHING was a problem... right...
