SubLight: Finding Subtitles was never this easy
« on: January 18, 2010, 09:23:51 PM »

not sure how woodyear aka "the internet oracle" missed this one but fellas.....check this mofo out.

SubLight

Think napster, for subtitles, only easier.

Where have you been all my life?

http://www.sublight.si/Home.aspx

This nifty app is free (in beta) and works on win98 straight through to Windows 7

Has some pretty advanced functionality like batch subtitle file downloads for your downloads/movie folder.

Simply right click at the top level of your folder and select "batch subtitle download"

Then watch in amazement as it finds all your vids and downloads the appropriate subtitle file, into the correct directory and with the proper name. Like mcmagic.

You have to register an account for this to work (which is free at the moment)

500 out of 5 stars.

tell me about it

I'll jump on the bed, fire up windows media center with my remote, dig into a bowl of pop corn as the movie begins and then here the misses say...."where the sub titles?"

Race back to the computer, start a man hunt on the internet across various subtitle database sites to find the correct file. Download it and extract to the movie directory. Test to make sure it is working and in sync, then dive back into bed.

A serious mood killer. MovieTowne / Cinemas 8 this is not.

Now thanks to sublight, that whole inconvenient routine is a thing of the past.

Does Media Player Classic download subs for all the files in your movie/downloads directory?

Do you really have to?

It gets the sub for the file you're watching e.g. Blood The Last Vampire (not the animated one)

lol @ question avoidance.

Come come Netizen. Which would you rather, opening 30+ avi files in media player classic to get the subtitles or just clicking twice and having 'em all downloaded automagically and renamed appropriately in the right folder?

Great for viewing the movies with windows media center via remote control. Seamless subtitles with zero fuss for all your vids.

Anyone in the family can turn on media center and play a movie with subtitles after. Child's play.

I don't have any kids that would be touching my stuff :P

I hardly have movies that need subs, but when it's time to watch one that does need subtitles, I go to Subtitle Database, find the appropriate one, and voilà I'm done.

Now if you like plenty foreign films in Hindi and French and Dutch and so on, then I guess this is the app for you.

Sorry, but MPC fits my needs just fine

is there any soft that can merge sub and movie so i can just put the avi file on my ps3 and watch?

I've been itching to get my bro an cousin to see Ip Man for the longest while now and the dubbed version not gonna cut it.
Guess who's back. Not me. :|
