It has been awhile

We are NOT repeat NOT going to put up scores that do NOT have a benchmark thread and the necessary verification.

rofl you hadda have your own benchmark thread to post scores now... i think that should included in the rules in the first page **i have no benchmark thread :)**

neways i guess the bar just stepped up a notch with messiah and isme benchies...
Considering they running i7 920’s
A 5970 equivalent to the cost of 2 x HD5850
And the same x58 chipset
I would say that it’s a very impressive score: 5000+ on men with similar core parts
Ah well.. I guess when I upgrade my “budget” machine later down in the year we’ll be coming back for those top 3 spots again tehe
or i wonder if i should go with 2 x hd5850's to see what they can REALLY do hmm... arc/capt anybody selling? hehe

neways gj for keeping the competitions going

Well technically speaking, 2 5850's come up to $550us, $100us cheaper than the 5970.

I'll probably try a voltage increase on the cards to see how high I get the clocks.

On the voltage increase side, check out the MSI afterburner 1.5 beta version, i found it on Guru3d, the 1.4.0 did some wired stuff on my card, might be the same for you since you also have a 58xx series as well. also keep a close eye on the VRM using gpuz, with he stock cooler i ramped up the volts like a super hero (went from 1.0 something to 1.168 something) and gpu-z reported all the vrms at 125 degrees and climbing! good thing i was right there to kill furmark before it killed my card!

why we always win, is becuase we dont bad spend we money, we did not run down i7 when it now release, and we dont do incremental upgrades for ah small increase in score, we does plan we thing, save we money, sell we parts, and buy we stuff.

Id never buy 2 5850s, when i coudl wait, and get a 5970 for similar price, same thing happen, with d 4870s, alyuh run and buy 2 4870s, and i waited, and got d X2, and blow out everybody., time u check d price, to ship 2 5850s down, vs 1 5970, both solutions WILL be at comparible price, all dat is what i does watch. also, to liquid cool 2 5850s go cost even more money, cuase water blocks not cheap.

Ah single dual gpu card, will always be better, dan 2 smiliarly priced cards (after shipping), also d 5970 have more overclocking headroom if u know what u doing.

When i7 release, i know dey was coming otu with a d0 steppin, did i run and buy a regular core? NO, i WAITTTTT, and take meh time, and got my hands on a D0 version, for d same price.

Wise purchases is what make d difference here.

And i dont plan on ever upgradin dat psu, dies why i got it, d 750w run me a good few years wihtout upgrading it, and wiht dis 1.2k i wont ever have to buy another psu, wel at least fuh 5 years.

And its quite simply why we quote "rub alyuh face in it" is becuase, of waht somebody was sayin on d forums ah while back, and alyuh attack d man for it. contrary to popular opinion, alyuh is not d hottest thing on gatt.

Also, we did not build dese machines jus to beat u, ive been buidling beast machines, selling, buying, sellin, overcloking, since way back in d days of P4 lol. and voodoo 2 cards. and dis upgrade was planned way in advance, long before u buy d 5850s. so dont think we buidl it for u.

I build dis beast, to play borderlands at 2560*1600 with everythign turned on, for starcraft 2, for all d dread games, dat going take advatage of d power. and for d shitloads of VM Ware machine i does have runin on my machine, when doing labs, and seting up stuff, or training.

Destroying d 2 top spots here at gatt, is just a side bonus :)

OK, im game. lets kill d animosity, and talk about how we coudl take dese rigs (Arcman's rig included) to d next level. we shoudl be talking bout hwo to sqeeze more juice out of each other machine and what not.

^^ As the resident Water coolers could you extend knowledge and expertise into giving other members on GATT pointers and tips if they were to consider adding water cooling to their own rigs?

first rule, DO NOT BUY A ALL IN ONE KIT!

we entered liquid cooling using a thermaltake kandalf lcs all-in-one liquid cooled case, beucase we din knwo what we was doing, so we play it safe and went with dat, and later on, air coolers start beatin it yes , was beter to use ah Thermalright Ultra Extreme, dan dat piece of crap lol

2nd Rule:

Liquid cooling a cpu, u have to come good, to get tangeable benifits over air.
Liquid coolin a GPU has d most gains, becuase of d wide surface area of d block, we GPU , with dat nasty overclcok, under load, does be 45c, lol, 50max. so for those who want to enter, ah nice lil small rad, ah single 120*120mm rad cud wok, or ah 240*120. with ah cheap lil pump, and ah cheap lil tank, cud get u up and runin with a liquid cooled gpu in no time. d thign with dat is, gpu waterblocks not cheap, and not transferable to new cards. it have its ups and downs all over in dis liquid cooling thing.

3rd Rule:

Liquid cooling is an investment, and once u invest in d right core componenets, and invest good, d amount u spend, will diminish over time. for instance, d pumps used in my rigs, is d same pump from meh old rig, i jus ad a second one. Same goes for fittings, hose, radiator, etc. once all ur core componetns are good, is jus a mater of buyin d apropriate waterblockls, again, d block on my cpu now, is d same block, from d last rig. no upgrade needed. dat block actual last through 3 upgrades.

..let me knwo if alyuh want more info, dont want to spam d vantage thread.

not ah problem brother, all that is what these forums  should be about, sharing information back and forth benefiting from the different members knowledge. (i know i learn the hard way the first time i try it and get shaft royally but i learn plenty from it, what works what don't e.g.)

with water, its different for everyone, it depends on what you want to cool and room available in the case, if you interested in going over to water we can help out no problem

yea, remember when we first post we machiens we was trying to do dat, get men to swet, gears of war, dawn of war, unreal, dat kinda thing, but everybody was only cod, so we din waste we time :)

but like u said, dese machines build to swet. borderlands, mw2, craft2 when it decides to release, lol, i see bioshock2 have MP also, so yea, we going and lash.

and hard oc, read what i say good, an all-in-one will work yes, but dats not what i say, i say compared to air, it makes no sense, for 50$ u will get an air cooler to blow out all dem all in one stock units. time u lap d air coolers, is more pressure again.

Why not?

Didn't have any problems with temps except i didn't clean the rad before i used it.

I could do with a better coolant though. :P
[/quote]

Good for you, glad you had a different experience than me,

In my case the all in one Kandalf system was cooling both CPU and GPU (Horrid Results), and you are correct, the liquid that comes with the Kits suck (After 6 months, the liquid went from a nice green to a Dark nasty color) the thing gunk up both water block and CPU block, the efficiency of these all in ones LCS has lots its effectiveness on modern hardware (mainly due to the restrictive tubing sizes and weak pumps/Rads), i am sure you have noticed that development trend of such systems have gone almost to a stand still? unless you got some dollars to spend on some of them CoolIT Systems products which is still a pretty weak contender when you look at its performance to cost

*Sorry captin i had time written up and click post whiles you did yours*
