Well this one was disappointing. Even though I'm sure Ridley Scott will have a director's cut ready later on and even though most of his DCs are better than the theatrical versions, I will still be surprised if it improves a lot.

One thing that can surely be remedied in the DC is the violence. Pretty sure it was edited for a PG-13 rating. In this version it just wasn't brutal enough (PG-13 stuff yeah but LOTR was more brutal). Final battle was disappointing because of this. The ships approaching shore looked cool but the actual battle was a letdown. All I saw was Crowe yelling and whacking the French on their backs. He could have just wielded a tree branch instead of a steel sword. Some of the archery looked aight.

The script was also a bit dull. Stuff happening between battles hardly held my interest. Some characters should have been developed more. Hell even Robin himself could have been written better.

Overall - 6/10 - Far from Gladiator's standard.

For me it was a lil bit confusing, the script didn't flow right and yea I still waiting for the blood cause this movie almost had none (lmao @ tree branch weilding)

Well me forgetting that I watched this to come and comment tells you enough....

5/10 in my book......watch it on cable....

Well I must say it was alot better than the lot of you made it out to be. I found it to be well paced, NOT ANOTHER GLADIATOR (which is a GOOD thing) and nice hidden references to history (like King Richard being killed by the cook). I am not sure what you were expecting, the gore was ALOT less than gladiator or any other such film and whether it be to have kept the kiddy friendly PG13 or just the directors choice, I found it sufficient to be entertaining and not detract with excessive violence. This is a story about a honest man who became a 'legend', NOT a downtrodden general or oppressed scottsman. More violence and the NEED to show it would detract from the story. I've read the book and it was NOWHERE near blood, gore and sex appeal, I don't see why it's a problem here that the movie (that losely preceeds the tale or Robin Hood) should be as well.
