I had the 'little brother' version to that Ax Pro...the AX 360.  Surround sound worked like a charm with solid bass too,
but the headset itself couldn't stand up to the many sweats I put it through.  It eventually broke after a year
and a half of constant use.

I've had that AX Pro in my cart for months now, but I just can't see the cheddar to buy it.

There are cheaper alternatives which work just as good, but where the AX Pro wins is the wealth
of connectivity options, and everything you need to connect to the Xbox 360, or PS3 is included.
Hence the price premium...but its totally worth it.  The extra situational awareness gained cannot be quantified.

If you can't afford that though...there's always this.

Don't forget there's connections for the PC too. :). I have one also, it's really a great headset. THank you brother.

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

Hmm I take it this cheaper option gives no xbox/ps3 love?

Not out of the box, but you can connect if you have one of these...

You can't use voice though, but you can use your Xbox mic, and enable
the 'play through both' voice option, so you can hear voice chat, and talk.

For PS3 voice input, you will need one of these...

Works pretty well for me, so I can recommend it.  :)

Hmm is there a loss in sound quality using these adapters? Will the Ax Pro have much better audio quality or is it only really noticeable to audiophiles?

It was interesting to hear one review actually rate up the Turtlebeach over the AX pro, having owned both.

Considering it is so much cheaper, I think that is where the smart money lies.

the surround sound on the Pros bess
u can adjust EACH (as in front, center, rear and sub) channel volume invidually
u can also adjust chat and game volume seperately.

another positive is u dont hav to buy anything else once u bought it
no adapters nothin
it comes with everything u need to work with ps3, 360 and pc and seein as u game on all 3 win for u lol

BUT the MAIN reason i bought these was because the 'T' (tritton logo) at the side lights up wen its on that shit is kool, automatic buy!!!! lol jk
but it does really light up :)

Blu_Vice, the surround sound really working with that headset? I'm very curious. A surround sound head phone setup could be on my santa wish list.

to answer this question
YES it works perfectly
1st time i had it on i was tellin my padna how wen we was playin uncharted i hear a noise behind me and i turn around actually thinkin some1 was in d room lol (had it loud btw)

gotten accustomed to it now
but yea wen i playin uncharted i hear if gunfire coming from left, right, front or behind
im usually the 1 alerting them where the action taking place

only game i aint try it in is cod but seein as ppl rely on sound way more in cod this go b a man's secret weapon in cod

dead silence? (ninja pro in mw2) yuh hearin dat on the headsets
not as loud as regular footsteps but u do hear them

oh btw if d review u checked out of the pros talked about 2 power adapters needed not anymore dat was long time
the pros i hav hav a different mic an only one adapter needed to power both headset and decoder box

lol @ being a pauper in december
not u alone nah studyin wheter to take d 360 in december one time
if i can get xbl one time then ah might catch a vaps an jus order it an dun

also if d pros too much for u it has the AX 720 for $130US
newer surround sound headset from tritton
but doesnt hav the 4 speakers in each cup instead it has jus 1 in each cup and uses virtual surround sound technology (dont be discouraged this is da same thing arc dream headsets ah show him the Astros A40 use)

http://gear.ign.com/articles/994/994069p1.html
AX 720/900 review
both headsets are identical in terms of sound quality but the more expensive AX 900s jus hav a few more inputs which in all honesty might not even be of use to u.

one problem tho......the AX 720 can only be bought at Best buy for now and i couldnt order cuz i didnt hav a US cc
so if u goin with these u wud need to send d money to some1 away
for them to buy it for u and send it down for u
