The Coon and Friends trilogy comes to an end in grand fashion, with epic battles, strange alliances, and secret origins revealed. It's a tale told in the finest comic book traditions, and it's one of the more creative episodes South Park has produced recently.It started with Mintberry Crunch leading us through a quick recap of the story so far. Once again, the story montage done in comic book style art is very well done. We learn a lot about Mintberry in this episode, including his secret magic word, "Shablagoo!".Technically, I can't find much to fault in this episode (yes, I'm sure some of you are shocked). There were some parts where I thought things were slowing down a bit, but the pace quickly picked up again. The writing is clever, the animation is crisp and detailed, the story is quite original, and all the plot points are surprising. The only consistent complaint I have with this Coon arc is that it was short on truly gutbusting laughs. The comedy is there, but its subtle and relies on a lot of inside jokes. But overall, the Coon and Friends arc gradually improved, and ended strong.
