4000 posts and counting...

Wow...4000 posts.  Never thought when I joined this community 'way back' in 2004,
I NEVER thought I'd still be here, posting away like mad.  I must say for the most part, its been an exciting
journey so far.

I can still remember my first GATT sweat like it was yesterday, at that cafe on Picton and Marli St corner
in POS.  Can't remember what it was called, but MAN it was fun.  Sweat started Carnival Friday night, and
didn't finish until about 6 am Carnival Saturday morning.

It blew me away at the time that there were trinis so passionate about computers and gaming. 
My PC at the time consisted of a Athlon XP 2000+ (1.67 GHz), 2 x 256 PC 133 SD-RAM, and a 'hot' Nvidia GeForce FX5200 (128 MB).
I remember the dude next to me had a BLAZING fast FX5950 Ultra, and my jaw hit the floor when he told me that he paid
about 3000 for it,  which is what my entire PC cost about that time.  When he fired up Unreal Tournament 2004 however,
I quickly understood why it was worth it to have such a kickazz card in your rig.  I saw graphics on-screen then
that my brain took years to process.  It looked that good.

Something else I will never forget was my very 1st chewing out by a mod.  It was NEO.  Nuff said.

I think I was the very first person (at least on GATT) to go online with my PS2.
Looking back on it now...online play with a PS2 in TnT was a real feat
 

I also think I was the first person to put a HDD in my PS2 and play games off of it,

Its been great thus far.  This site, and its community, has been the one constant
in my life for the past 5 yrs, when so much has changed...and I really do hope to be around
long enough to make 4000 MORE posts.

Now that I've reminisced a bit...its time that a I drop a lil bombshell on everyone:

Come early January 2010, me and the missus will be welcoming a new life into the world.
Yep...you heard it here first.  Arcman is having a baby.

Not sure if its a boy or girl as yet, but one thing is for sure...that child WILL be a
1337 tech enthusiast/gamer.  You can count on THAT.

Many congratulations Arc on 4000 and your new (soon to be) baby. All of us here at gatt are proud of you.

Euro+ was the name of the cafe. Back then I had only started gaming a couple years and I think that Euro+ experience coupled with gatt drove my love for gaming and tech futher and futher. I remember from even back then watching them men systems and bawling. Athlon XP 3000 this, 1gb DDR that 5900ultra, running SOF2 and MOHAA late into the night. I mean guys at the time were really running some serious hardware. Its a shame that most of those guys fell off the map after Euro left (and for other reasons too)

But a man who has consistently given me competition over the years is Arc. Back then I used to go by the handle "daaak neo" and with my budget being limited, I scraped any lil extra to score some of the best bang for buck parts. I has been fun and continues to be much fun.

Here's to a man with the deep pockets, it has been a great five years and lets make it for 50 more years...you rich muhfugga.

GATT would not have been the same without you over the years. I remember arc for being one of the vocal cross platform gamers, while many at the time would hold firm to a platform and not budge. Arc represented across console, PC, Emulators, the works. All genres too, from flight sims to fps, fighting to racing. Truly an ultra gamer.

It is a privilege for me to be a gatt member alongside gamers such as yourself.
