RTS gameplay

Want to see what the gatters prefer. i rather the ole school, build the bases and armies, and plan out attacks. but some how this type of RTS is on a decline as the newer games take on a more leveling up heroes, more of a top down action game than a  rts. take dow 1 and dow 2 for example. i played both and went back to playing dow 1

it is a good question.

I'm a fan of both but the new approach taken by relic/thq did take quite a bit of getting used too. DoW2 eliminated base building altogether.

Action from day one.

The result, shorter, more intense multiplayer games than dow1.

However, I do miss the base building and expansion element of starcraft. Expanding and protecting your economy was a critical strategy. In DoW2, you just need to control the map for the higher ups to find favour with your commander and provide your army with additional resources. (Easier said than done, but still, just not the same as sneaking off to a far flung corner with an scv and setting up shop)

Tough call.

You probably shoulda put a cyar decide or both option there, because i enjoy both equally for its different approaches is strategy gaming.

i don't mind the gameplay, just find that they should keep the same type of gameplay for the series. because i think command and conquer 4 going a different direction also. and its online only too. so what about those that have bad internet connections or blink and green dot. 3rd world country ftl

had men who liked the God awful hunters maps and would turn a game that should be build base and acquire resources, build army and stratergy into...
6 zerg rush
6 drone rush
2 zealot rush
rush to tank and marines with bunker...

and they called it "fun"

the base and army building i find is the fun in the game as at the end when you defeat the other person 3-4 hrs you felt like you really earned it. i rememeber times in aoe 2 at lan partieswhen i would send a land army to attack the opponent and when that fight is going on send my whole naval base to destroy all their buildings near the coast including town centers/ castles...

lol @ hunters. You talking bout BGH. Big Game Hunters with unlimited resources. That was rubbish.

Regular hunters was a legendary map!
