I have no doubt, don't trust those extensions but one must admit, they are insanely useful.

What I'm doing currently is using Chrome and Maxthon for daily browsing. Both are great though I'm leaning more towards maxthon as it has worked where chrome has failed (viewing certain pix online and e-banking with unit trust).

Firefox will stick around for when and only when I need to use those extensions.

On a side note, IE8 works great but not better than chrome/maxthon. If you've got a powerful rig, no need to really stray from it for basic browsing.

Chrome is much smoother to use on my Windows 7 test laptop. (Now running with 1gb of ram). It takes remarkably less CPU and Disk activity to perform the same tasks/tabs/browsing. Makes a huge difference if you're using a modest machine.

I think this problem mainly happens in Windows 7. In vista, i've never seen Firefox utilize more than 450mb or so of memory, and thats with about 22 tabs open.

For a while now ive been wondering just why I have FIVE gb and more of my memory being used on a regular basis. Much to my disappointment, forefox was taking up OVER a gig of memory. A little research revealed that the problem could be the flash plugin for it. A couple people recommended making firefox release some of the memory it uses when it is minimised. Now why should I have to do that?

Poeple could say whatever about IE 8, but right now i've got 3 tabs open and it uses a minimal 52mb memory. I thinks i'll be sticking with it for a while.

yeah, ie8 and chrome doing the job. Really sorry to see how firefox has lost its place as the efficient browser.

chrome and ie8 are fast and thin. How the mighty have fallen. Maybe microsoft put in some rogue code in the OS to screw with firefox, I dunno.
