DAAAAAMMMMMNNNN!!!
My throat still hurts from when I yelled that. That punch hit like a freakin sledgehammer.

Fantastic card overall. Probably the best I've seen so far this year or at least close to UFC100

Erm...you guys realize there was a Strikeforce card on CBS last night at 10pm right?
Fabricio Werdum v Antonio Silva
Gegard Mousasi v Sokoudjou
Jake Shields v Jason Miller
FEDOR v Brett Rogers

So I'm guessing you guys weren't watching? The damn I'm talking about was when Fedor dropped Rogers with an overhand right.

COngratulations to Dwayne Hinds and Adam De Silva for going to JAmaica and pwning for the red white and black.
Props to Torakan Dojo and QPJC for giving these guys solid foundation for their fighting spirits.

Co-main event: lightweight championship bout
Cleon Bardowell vs Dwayne Hinds (165lbs-170lbs)

Adam De Silva and Dwayne Hinds on there victories at the King of Rock 2 MMA event in Jamaica

Adam De Silva won by Leg Triangle Choke 2:03 Rd1
Dwayne Hinds won by Rear Naked Choke 1:23 Rd1 (new welterweight champ of the rock)

Dwayne had to drop weight to hit the weight class.
Watched him go through the stress of losing the weight, look so small compared to his usual self and still performed like a monster at the dojo.

THe dojo btw, Queens Park Judo Club has now moved to Picton street newtown.

Across the road from SBCS

now getting to watch that machida shogun fight
and while shogun landed a dizzy of annoying body and leg kicks
he never once tried to end the fight, whilst machida tried on many occasions to end the fight with combos.

I agree with the commentators and the judges decisions, to be the champion you have to clearly beat the champion.
better luck next time thats all

Let's give this a little push for the new year by discussing the last big card of last year.
Anyone else saw Aoki/Hirota. Shinya got some crazy grappling but he's also probably the biggest dick at LW.
If you've never seen someone's arm snapped in MMA:

ok i just got the time to watch this fight.
I dont even know where to begin to call what ever the hell it is aoki did there lol
he is too insane with his submissions
but the reason he gave the guy the finger and acted like a dick there was cause the guy refused to submit. so he broke it, your supposed to be a good competitor and tap when you know you cant get out and your likely to get something broken so i wont hold that against aoki.

That's not why he flipped him off. Because he also flipped off the crowd...and his corner.
Aoki was pissed that he was fighting Hirota, he didn't think Hirota was worthy to fight him. He really wanted Kawajiri.

There's nothing wrong with him breaking the arm, it was Hirota's fault for not tapping.

Now that was seriously poor sportsmanship

You can see at 2:35 onwards that Mizuto's both hands were trapped. He couldn't tap out.

Not by hand anyway. A vocal would be his only hope and that ain't the easiest thing to do in mid submission, especially a quick and painful looking one like that.

-1000 to him

Some other "breaking" news. Apparently UFC has sold a percentage of the company to a jiu jitsu sheik in abu dhabi

Yeah but that really isn't Aoki's fault. It's Hirota's place to submit, not Aoki's to try to break him mentally. While subs are dangerous, when you go easy on opponents they can take advantage of you, like what Lindland did with Fedor. Lindland knew Fedor would not go hard with his subs so he was able to use Fedor's soft-heartedness to escape.
Another example is Matt Hughes v Royce Gracie. When Hughes had Royce in the armbar, he could have snapped it but he knew Royce would never tap to someone. So he let it go and had to fight until he got the back mount and the resulting TKO. Now Matt could theoretically have lost at some point between and it would have been all because he didn't want to go all in.

I maintain that there was nothing wrong with Aoki breaking Hirota's arm. His lack of sportsmanship AFTERWARD was the fault.

Exar, Aoki's pinned the man's both hands. How is that not his fault???

I think it was malice. Judging from his lack of remorse after and the back story, it is pretty clear the guy was malicious.

On another note, how much damage to this guy's career do you think that broken arm's gonna do?

We talking out for 6 months and back to fighting form? Or years?

I gave Matt Hughes huge props for sparing Gracie (Just realised that spar and spare spelt so similar yes), even though Gracie turned out to be on roids.

It seems to me that pinning his hands was part of the sub or that they were pinned to prevent Hirota from having a means of escape. I agree that Aoki probably didn't feel anything as far as breaking Hirota's arm but that really wasn't his problem. Hirota should have verbally submitted, he didn't even try to.
What was Aoki to do? Let him go? If everyone thought that way submissions would be useless since no one would ever submit.

As far as damage, he'll be back. I mean Mir broke Tim Sylvia's arm after all. Brock broke Herring's orbital bone with a punch. All were back.
And I bet Hughes would have felt like a total idiot if Royce had subbed him after he let him free.

How long did it take Sylvia to get back in the ring after Mir broke his arm?

MMA is a testosterone sport know doubt. When all those egos get going its expected to see ape behaviour but I respect a combatant like hughes who can maintain his humanity and be humane amidst it all.

I think GSP would do the same, given the opportunity. Those are two fighters that seem to strike the balance between primal instinct and modern civility. Makes for great bouts without the brutality as seen in the Aoki - Hiruta debacle.

and faber broke his hands fighting brown
but he will be back in fighting form
heck look at Mir, he got wtfpwned in that bike accident, broke a bunch of stuff and he is back.

Mizuto really really really should have submitted, from the moment he was caught on the ropes like that and couldnt get out he should have subbed while he still had the free hand and then verbally as soon as he was on his stomach. There are many fighters who will refuse to sub and they often pay the price with broken limbs. Man ting.

And as ultra badass as Fedor is, he does have a heart.
He will gut you during the match and then treat you like a kitten afterwards and he never disrespects anyone, he is the ultimate MMA sportsman, never once giving anyone shit talk hes amazing, you would think he would be cocky.. but as he said... he fighting for bread.
How you beating dat, man have kids to feed and a wife to maintain, ha no talking dere.

agreed re: fedor

I haven't heard any bad press on him ever.

Still hoping for some insight in how long it takes these guys to recover from a broken limb though.

Sylvia was fighting again 6 months after the break.
Overall I think Hirota did himself a disservice by not tapping. Beyond the fact that he obviously is hurt, just like when a guy gets KOed and fears the KO you've gotta expect that Hirota will be more likely to tap early, fearing something happens again.

Even Fedor is human sometimes too though. I couldn't find the vid in a brief look but he was raging like crazy backstage when Cro Cop knocked out Aleks.
