eyes that 7/10 rating suspiciously. Being the glutton for punishment that I am, will watch this movie. lol

Anderson Silva, Frank Mir, GSP, and more.

How bad can it be right? (shudders @ Never Surrender)

and the man doesn't quit, he's got a 2010 offering

Duel of Legends.

UFC 111 saw no upsets in the championship matchs

GSP whooped Hardy

Shane Carwin put a world of pain on Frank Mir. That shane is just too much devastation in human form.

Definitely a more aggressive match for Brok, should be more interesting to see than Frank's laissez vair vibe in the ring.

Next up, UFC 112

again, i have tremendous respect for Mir's Ju Jitsu ability.
I have started using the mir lock in class and it is amazing and just in general the man is a beast in locks.
His stand up is great as well, hes a really big guy, next to brock you dont see it but he is really huge and he can hit and move but it seems like brock and carwin found out that the best way to fight Mir.. is to NOT fight him.
Dont stand up with him, dont tangle with him on the floor... just lay on him and or grope him against the fence and he seems to not be able to fight his way out of a non fight.
Like wonderwoman with bonds made by man on her.

I like Mir. He's an MMA star no doubt but Brok and Carwin decimated the guy.

I'm a bit baffled at what makes that "fence lay/grope" so effective.

I see Couture using it a lot too.

i think they train so much for situations and resistance that they cant seem to think their way out of the opposite.. no situation no big resistance.

Like ok you say Brock decimated him .. but he really didnt
the first match, beautiful lock, brock tapped like a big bitch
second match, Mir was standing toe to toe and if it stayed there, brock would have gotten hurt
but i dont know how he figured out that snorlax technique
then this fence thing, dont know where that came from either

lol, in the first match brock had him for breakfast. It was overconfidence from the pummeling Brock was putting on Mir that made him give up that leg and fall victim to the lock.

He didn't make that mistake the second time.

I like Mir more than Brock eh, don't get me wrong. Just that he got dominated twice and unfortunately, he won't get to prove he can really go toe to toe with the big man now that Shane is likely to steal the thunder.

12 - 0 and never going past round one is a helluva statistic to enter into the ring against Brock with. Especially in the heavy weight category.

:(

BUT

True to form, and expressionless Emelianenko seemed unaffected by the suprising loss at the hands of the fellow PRIDE veteran when asked what he was thinking immediately following his first true professional defeat as a mixed martial artist, stating, “Really, nothing, because the one that doesn’t fall doesn’t get up.”

AND
“It happens that I was made kind of an idol,” said Emelianenko. “Everybody loses. That happens. I’m an ordinary human being, as is all of us and if it is God’s will, the next fight I will win.

So yay

This SCREWS Strikeforce now though. Fedor has one fight left on his contract. Who will he fight? Werdum has earned the shot against Overeem, Overeem can't fight Fedor coming off a loss for the title. There's no one for Fedor to take on. Unless it's a rematch.

Truly Fedor gave Werdum's bjj no respect. Understandable given how he tooled Nogueira but without a doubt Werdum was always on another level, best grappler at HW. If only Fedor had kept it standing I don't think there'd have been any doubt.

wow, just wow.

Werdum did the unimaginable yes.

and you know, that leg triangle doesn't work for me.

I'll have to start practicing that shit hard core, if it could work on fedor....it could work on anyone.

Well keep in mind that Werdum is one of the best jiu jitsu players in MMA. He took the HW division at ADCC this year and was a former champion as well. Plus he was world BJJ champion.

Very nicely done by Brock surviving that first round. I ain't mad at him this time around, he was very humble in victory and looks every bit the deserving champion.

The fact that Carwin was gased at the end of R1, makes me wonder if he really thought in the long term that he would end it in R1 and just skipped cardio altogether.

Carwin says his body seized up, that his cardio was fine. idk about that.

What I do know is that I don't know (heh) what the archetype is to beat Lesnar. That chin, calling it granite is an understatement. Everyone said Lesnar's elementary standup would leave him dead against a good striker. Well he took the hits. I just don't know. Could even Overeem drop him?

well in the second mir fight, Mir was actually beating him on stand up, so it can be done, if you can defeat his take down.
As for his ground game, well a great ground fighter can beat him again, just that Mir seems to be allergic to people lying on top of him doing nothing or pinning him against the cage. Its not to say mir cant fight from his back.. i mean the "Mir Lock" was "invented" from on his back, and it was a masterful lock too.
It seems most likely that it would take submissions to beat him, especially since hes most likely to take people down and sit on them.
