The Pirate Bay Sold To Software Company, Goes Legal?
« on: June 30, 2009, 08:28:02 AM »
Hmmm I have a feeling the pirate bay won't be for torrents in the future :(

http://torrentfreak.com/the-pirate-bay-sold-to-software-company-goes-legal-090630/

According to gaming company Global Gaming Factory X, it is in the the process of acquiring The Pirate Bay for $7.8m (SEK 60 million). The acquisition is scheduled to be completed by August and will see the site launch new business models to compensate content providers and copyright owners.

Software company Global Gaming Factory X (GGF) says it is in the process of acquiring The Pirate Bay and file-sharing technology company Peerialism. GGF claims to have the biggest network of internet cafés and gaming centers in the world.

The changeover of ownership is scheduled for August 2009, whereby GGF will take over the operation of the site.

The company says that after it has completed the acquisition it will launch new business models so that copyright owners get paid, which is clearly a huge diversion from TPB’s previous modus operandi.

No matter what they say about the new owners wont change it because people will stop coming on the site, there is bound to be some change...dare I say some SIGNIFICANT change that will cause the site to totally suck. Either they severly limit the content or they make users pay for registration or whatever. Thank internets there are enough aquisition sites around that if tpb is to be lost, the blow will be thoroughly cushioned.

The worldwide filesharing community has survived the downfall of Napster, Kazaa, and SuprNova,
which were all bigger than Pirate Bay.  I certainly won't miss em too much.

All this does is add a few more clicks to my content searches.

No need for piratebay when you got mininova, torrentbox, isohunt and most importantly for me torrentleech

PS reading through comments to find out if something was real truely sucked on the piratebay. Too much damn fakers. Was always a last resort site for me.

Mininova for real. But the ultimate torrent search engine is google. Just putting torrent after whatever you searching, as long as it exists, you bound to find it.

Isohunt (They list torrentbox torrents) .... No? :shakehead:

Torrentleech .... No? :shakehead:

ThePirateBay .... Most Likely but No? :shakehead:

Demonoid(After piratebay to preserve ratio) .... No? :shakehead:

Not me, premium on all. Believe me well worth the money. I does kinda get fed up of waiting for a torrent to eventually finish since my torrent of choice is 1080p Movies 8 - 15 gigs. With any of those you are almost guaranteed full download speed. And seeing how games getting bigger and bigger, sometimes i just can't afford to sit and way 2 days - 3 days for something to finish you know. Not to mention those things kill your ratio on both torrentleech and demonoid which are the only 2 trackers you get respectful speeds on (Specifically torrentleech, the fastest torrents in the world there almost guaranteed full speed).

Funfile for getting stuff fast at an average of 250k downloads speeds easy, can go higher too. Once it's recent it's there(games,tv shows etc) and you get it FAST!! Yea they have seeding rules etc but that's my get stuff quick torrent site. You need to get an invite to join though.

Demonoid for any and everything

Those two sites alone are more than enough for me, piratebay won't really be missed by me...
