Hey all, I just tried this on win7 with hotspot shield and ran into a bit of a problem. My purpose for doing this was i bought a GOW2 game of the year edition and get the region error when i try to download my "free" map packs.

I was able to get the xbox connected by bridging my wireless and physical LAN connection instead of using ICS. Although I am able to connect to live if i select Redeem Code it fails giving an xbox 800 error (can't remember the exact code). I forwarded all recommended ports for the xbox ip and the problem still persists.

Don't bridge, share the hotspot shield virtual network adapter thus making your wired (LAN) connection to the PS3/XBox. You will have to be connected to the internet using the Wireless LAN. Once you do it this way it should be fine as your PC will then mask your console behind the IP addy of the Hotspot. Bridging means your wireless connection is the same as the LAN, thus you are not masked.

Hey Fellas,

I got through with purchasing the game and queing it via xbox.com. It the last part that is giving me some trouble (when you say to use ivacy to complete the download). Are there any special settings that I need to change??

Thanks
Arvin

You read the instructions on the first page? In a nutshell you are going to share the Ivacy network connection via the LAN Ethernet port. Once you do that your LAN port will give out IP addresses ala DHCP and you should be able to connect to XBL. Once you can, just go ahead and DL away!

Thanks. The problem I am having right now is that the LAN connection to the console is not being assigned an IP address. DHCP is enabled but I still cannot connect.

Disable your firewall on the LAN interface, or both

Thanks. The problem I am having right now is that the LAN connection to the console is not being assigned an IP address. DHCP is enabled but I still cannot connect.

Be sure your Network IP is not 192.168.0.1, if this is your gateway address it will not work. when setting up a ICS it uses this as the default, so be sure your network is not 192.168.0.1

Thanks for the responses guys. I forgot to mention that I use Blink On The Go as my internet source and I don't have a router. I share the internet on my VISTA system however, I have to assign an IP address to the console and I think here is where my problem lies as the computer can't automatically assign an IP to the console when using the VPN. Any suggestions???

Is it related to ur post on the first page?? If I could get some more info I might give it a try on an older laptop I have packed down. I downloaded virtual box, where did you get the guest OS?

I work in IT, I created the image myself, hence I asked how tech savvy are you? In effect you'll need to create a Windows XP Image with 2 network interfaces, 1 mapped to 'NAT' the other to your Physical LAN interface. If you go this route you can use Anchor free as well since the 'NAT' will effectively use what internet connection there is.

Glad to hear it. I'll try to make space to add you to my XBL list, it's become really difficult to delete ppl as most are on at any given time, also this weekend was double XP in Black Ops, so we were quite occupied XD.
