I think the DRM issue actually INSTIGATES piracy.....so there must be another way to deal with this issue
1. You just STOP making mc PC games, like Epic has decided to do with some titles.
If a company cannot make returns on their title they cant make the income to make another one, they go bankrupt and we all know the rest. If people have not noticed this is happening quite often! its called "mergers" which anyone with any kinda of business or economic background know its a power move or the company about to go under.
Of course you can get a ton of reasons why they have merged but the point being that somehow this company is no longer able to fund their own products and require more than a producer to create a title.
2. You just BURN the living hell out of piracy.
However this is easier said than done. You can crackdown on certain piracy groups, scare the living daylights out of their competition and force them into early retirement. However, doing that appears to be a huge problem for whoever is doing this. Either money talks or bullsh!t walks.....or both.
PC games dying? Hardly.......not even. You always gonna have PC games, its the easiest platform to make a title for, and its free to make most of the time as well. EPIC titles for the PC being reduced? Absolutely! And you are seeing this happen right now! A title would be on PC first! then make its way in a watered down format to Consoles. Now its being released in tandem with the consoles! And as you can see by the direction companies are going with DRM, guess which platform is getting the returns?
Now gamers are VERY opinionated, they are quite knowledgeable as well......most of the time. However sometimes you can see someone flame a forum on why they pirate a game with no apparent reason!...which is FINE.....gamers play games, if they like they like, they dont....well bleh. They dont have to give a reason that is how "they feel"
on the OTHER hand.......DESIGNERS have to figure out why the hell alyuh like or doh like the game.
if you noticing companies make a game.....advertise or say wth they want to market it....."omg this is awesome....best game evarrr" and probably also really think so....only for gamers to play it and say "wtf is this???"
my point? There is no WORKING business model in this industry right now....there is NO business model for FUN.....nobody knows WTF fun is! because mine and yours are very different.
When they drop 35 million US on a title and it doh sell.....what u think goin to happen? they FIRED!....serious......ALL ah dem. Guess what happens when it DOES sell......but 50 percent of the ppl playing it are priateers? THEY GET FIRED! because they eh gettin returns!
so they initiate phase 1.....this new BS DRM.....which they gonna SOON realize is a VERY bad idea.
They gonna pull the idea say "oh sh!t we sorry dred" and then do some OTHER crap
I bet they siddong in a room friday night and say "aye lewee put 3 installs on the MC game....i mean it hadda be SO good...who "teh fck" goin to install it more than once??" when SPORE is a FAMILY game......it look like they "Wii" the living daylights out of this game boy. I mean.......is a game for 5 year olds dread......it just overly simplistic. So you tell me.....this demographic goin to KNOW that they can only install the game 3 times? hell no! they gonna find out the hard way........REAL cuss....and NOT buy the mc game again
They not goin to say "oh gosh darnit....i think i need to buy another game for the folks!'...hell ..no...
Actually i know about 15-20 people who bought SPORE here.....and NONE of them are happy with it....they want their money back. Not because of the DRM....which they found out about after and get even MORE vex...but the game is just a pile of @ss.....is like EA tell Will Wright. "Hey buddy! Wii is the way to go man! lets turn spore on the PC into a Wii....."
the result........FAIL!
I STILL dont think people should profit from pirating games.......not RIGHT NOW. If it DOES escalate...i will say go strong......but i think if it does.......PC gamers are going to have to worry ALOT more than just pirating games
the "PC games go always be around" statement is right!......the details of the EPIC titles being there......that is another story.
