Yep, new CPUs from AMD and Intel.



Of particular note here is the introduction of the 'Athlon II' by AMD which is an actual
Phenom II dual-core derivative.

Intel also introduces the new Core i7 975 Extreme, which is an absolute monster,
in price as well as performance.

I read this review: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/core-i7-975,review-31595.html yesterday on the new Intel chips and whilst they are monsters (as all Core i7 are) I didn't think it really THAT much of a big whoop over the 965. THe 920 is still the BEST bang for buck bar none (in the top end). The AMD cpus are a bit more curious, you COULD get an X4 from an X2 IF you're lucky, and the Athlon X2 is a decent chip though not as good on OCing as the Phenom (no duh). Either way I found the 4 new cpus underwhelming.
