That's not true, you buy parts no? You maintain your vehicle (maybe original like myself), are those sales not counting towards their bottom line? Its the same concept, for them to continue to support the game, issue bug fixes, provide you with forums and freebies is that not worth a value as well? (now not talking about dlc). What about continued marketing to increase the player bar and thus your online experience where applicable? And sure steam could get a cut commensurate with their input.Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2

by your logic game devs should then say to hell with the consumer and forget bug fixes, etc cause the made their only profit so why should they care after?Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
really.. how can you liken selling a used game to buying extra parts?? its two totally different concepts...the person that buys the used car will still be going to the dealer for parts no?the point is, that when i sell the car, with whatever i have in it.. the dealer does NOT get a cut of MY money.. i'm trying to re-coup as much cost as i can... the onus is on the new owner to maintain the car through the dealer where the dealer will rightfully make a profit.now liken it to digital game... game is release.. i buy it, beat it, sell it at a lower cost... the new owner can still dl all the dlc's they want to give the dev some profit.but once the game leaves the developer hands, they have turned their sale profit... they can still extend the lifetime of that profit by releasing good dlcs and in app purchasing...
DLC's are what devs are not obligated to do, which is why they should rightfully get paid for that extra work
Valve is crowdsourcing the approval process for its Steam distribution platform, it said today. With a new service the company is calling Steam Greenlight, slated to launch at the end of August, Valve will allow gamers to vote on which titles will make it to the popular digital network. Instead of going through some sort of mysterious, behind-the-scenes approval process, independent games will now be placed on the Greenlight service, where users can vote to approve them for distribution on Steam
I have not referred to an 'extra' part yet, I am talking about maintenance (brakes, shocks, springs, etc) parts that are good (no Toyota defects) that you buy from the manufacturer because the after market might be Ish, how is that not giving more money to the car maker after you buy the car? And THAT is the comparison I Drew. You wear down parts you replace them, you playing games online and ppl think done class or gun or car OP so they Nerf it, not that it's defective, but they do it anyway (wow is the MOST renown for this, they Nerf every class at some point but that another rant altogether). Basically you're saying if it's not 110% ready at launch date it's 'defective', to which I ask how do you prepare for ALL problems under the sun possible? Answer it's impossible. So the servers that you sweating on (where applicable) don't need money for maintenance? The patches to online exploits since ur servers are visible worldwide don't require money to fix? LudicrousAnd as for the versions making your own depreciate, how do? Would the gold Ed not sell for more second hand? If you but the cheap version do you not expect that it will resell for less? If you buy a ford focus and u buy the svt model is mine not worth more than yours? How id this again relevant to second hand sales? will ppl not but my cheaper 2nd hand over the omgitsshiny version because it's cheaper?I like the comparison Wyatt Drew, we paid allot more for the Same or less back in the day but men think they getting rob if u give a lil $ to the Dev in a resale but fine if it given to say steam? No wonder EA launched origin, at least that way they are both dev AND platform they could get SOMETHING IF it ever went down that roadSent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2
