Head shots too nonetheless...That is no easy task...from the tail of a battleship to a lifeboat bobbing in the water...75-100 feet away...one of the shots was through a small window, talk about serious skill...geez...

Very good rescue.

Now WHEN will they rescue the other 200 hostages who are nationals of OTHER countries on OTHER boats??

I find they kick up quite a fuss because he was AMERICAN.

After this...the pirates might think twice about taking Americans hostage.

SEALs 1 - Pirates 0

...and this is AFTER the crew of the ship they took the captain from
overpowered them and took back the ship.

US Navy SEALSs
British SAS
Russian Spetznaz

These niggaz don't play.  I knew the SEALs were hardcore, but those shots were damn near
INCREDIBLE.  You have bobbing decks on both sides, wind drift, bullet drop, Coriolis Effect...

Wow, just...Wow.

Good point raised by Sax though...but what did you expect?
Americans will only get involved when its their citizens in the 'hot seat'.

hmm seems like this incident will boost the popularity of this new show from Spike...

http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/04/spike-tv-pirate-reality-show.html

Spike TV is jumping into the pirate-chasing business with a new reality series covering the US Navy's ongoing operation to end the threat of hijacking off the African coast.

The US Navy is allowing Spike and production company 44 Blue in-depth access as they embark on their mission from a military base in the seaside nation of Djibouti (bordering Somalia and Ethiopia) and on the open water.

Cameras will capture life aboard two US warships (the USS San Antonio and USS Boxer), as they patrol the Gulf of Aden for pirates who hijack commercial transport vessels.

The show, titled Pirate Hunters: USN, is produced by 44 Blue Productions (The True Story of Black Hawk Down, Lockup) and Adam Friedman (Vertical Ascent).

“Piracy off the coast of Africa is a real and deadly threat,” said Rasha Drachkovitch, president and founder of 44 Blue. “With Pirate Hunters: USN, our goal is to capture that drama for the TV audience in order to highlight the heroic work undertaken by the US Navy every day in this fight against terrorism.”

The announcement comes right after a dramatic five-day standoff where Navy Seal snipers rescued an American cargo ship captain and killed three Somali pirates in a rescue operation.

HA!!

Snipers are the ones that are usually deep behind enemy lines, performing recon, 'painting' targets for air strikes,
and yes...taking out high-value targets when necessary.

Sniping is shooting in its most lethal, purest form.  The skill it takes to truly reach out and 'touch'
someone from over a mile away, and strike very real fear into enemies on the battlefield is a seldom appreciated one...
that is, until you've faced a sniper yourself.

Of all the Special Ops soldiers in the world, the sniper gets ALL my respect.

They are skilled in the art of camouflage as well. I saw a documentary once showing how they train and a test usually requires them to be hidden even when within a few feet of someone. These guys can stay for days in the same position for that one critical shot...
