hi folks. I have about $6000 to spend on a lcd tv which will mainly be used with my ps3. where is a good place to buy? I'm looking at around a 32 inch size. Should I get a 720p or 1080p model? should I hold out for a larger screen? It's for my bedroom which I guess is about 15 x 20 feet. any advice appreciated.

def should aim for 1080p
at that budget do some huntng on amazon
gonna have to bring it in, cause honestly, local choices arent that great
unless u get someone on the forum to sell you one of theirs
iam looking at a hanns g for my computer

new egg is a good place to look for wat yu want as their catalouging is better than amazons.
when u find what yu want check for it on amazon

1080p, 720p==1080i and is generally cheaper, but go with 1080p. That said, unless you know someone in customs... good luck bringing in a HD LCD for 6k... insurers DON'T insure LCDs or TVs etc as far as I was told which is part of what makes it so expensive down here. If you ship it from the US, it's at your OWN risk and then they'll charge you tax and VAT on it.

Circuit Zone has some decent prices for LCDs they had a 720p sharp aquos 32" for $3688 last month....only 3 month warranty I believe. Don't think you start seeing the difference in 1080 until you go with larger sizes > 40 or you standing real close to the tv.

Honestly I would prefer to buy it from places like Standards etc... they at least give you a 1 year warranty. Real hassle if these things break/lemons...

Just went with a friend to buy an LCD TV @ circuit zone.

She got a viewsonic 32" for $4900.00

1080p

Pretty impressive. Inputs galore, HDMI, VGA, Component, S-video, the works.

Again, for the 720vs1080p argument, you will definitely see the difference when using a PC as the source. (which any self respecting techie on this site should be doing, lol)

Don't remember the exact model (my bad) but I can check and report back for further research.

Almost convinced to get one for myself.

lol, well when I said "just", I meant as in the last 24 hours ago.

Yeah, that price is pretty decent.

I especially liked the remote control and how simple changing inputs were as well as changing aspect ratio. Features that you'd be using on a daily basis. Having them so accessible is not to be taken for granted since some monitors/TVs bury these options in the OSD menu. nasteh!

If I win lotto this week, 52" immc but failing that, the 32" viewsonic looking more and more attractive as the minutes go by.

The real challenge is to find a smallish tv (read 32") with a pc resolution of 19x10 instead of the normal $hitty 13x7.

Anybody come across any of those locally, let me know plix plox.

and as for not being able to see the diff between 720p and 1080. Thats not true, you can see the diff in as low as 28 inches on most lcds that size and on really really high quality 24 inches as well.
32 is just the perfect spot for tv and monitor size.

Oh btw fellas on these larger lcd tvs (> 40") what sort of power protection to use? I am hearing two different schools of thought UPS vs. Voltage Regulator. Which is better to use on these expensive tvs?
