Yeah, it's on my list of must-buy games for this year. I just hope it's as good as the last two. The multiplayer looks interesting as well.

Brilliant, still the same bleak outlook we've come to love from Max.

anyone played this yet? i finished it yesterday and loved every minute. the action was so gritty and realistic. everything in the game had a believable weight to it, unlike anything i've played in a while. the storyline was really good, like playing through a Hollywood blockbuster, with a ton of cut-scenes and voice overs. almost felt like MGS with the number of cut-scenes. surprisingly, it played without any slowdown on my rig with every setting on max (with the exception of MSAA which i left off).

had a few grips with it though. namely the inconsistent difficulty (enemies tend to wait around corners with shotguns, killing u in a single hit) and the occasional slow animations (like when u fall or dive and Max's old ass takes forever to get up leaving u completely open).

i'd still wholeheartedly recommend the game to anyone looking for a great, straight-up action game and who's not afraid of some hardcore violence as well. lol

...and this is my main issue with the game.  At times, I feel it's trolling me...as in 'throw-the-controller' type difficulty.

Stellar game though.  No other complaints.

Played this....finished this..

As a developer I watch games differently...my 2 cents. I don't watch games like gamers do, all you guys know is the end game, not what goes into making it..

- Great presentation. Awesome story that really pulls you in. (hella dark too). Nice story....stellar acting!
- Repetitive. If you aren't pulled into this story you are going to get bored quick....real quick. "Boss" fights are very half assed, which isn't terrible since boss fights are so difficult to do nowadays people just leave them out.
- teri-f(ckin-bad objective system. Intensity vs. waypoint solving is a bad combination. This is design 101, and I can tell that if this was left out they had some god awful bugs they had to deal with.
- buggy.....as......shit. Looking at the credits after the game, with THAT many people on the project you are bound to find issues...and this shows. Encountered 3 progression breaks in the game. Cover system has serious issues.
- Multiplayer...is....boring.....as.......shit. Slow, lazy, dead. Its a flavor of the month shooter. People play it for a little...then go back to what they were playing

All in all. For someone looking for a good single player experience, this is nice. VERY nice. For someone following Max Payne and hearing about it for a few years, this game probably didn't start production until a year ago..if that. Simple drill down...reuse of enemy skins on miniboss fights, simple animation and mechanic remaps stunted by hairline triggerpoints.

The designers did a GREAT job, the tech designers f*cking need to be fired.

Played it NON STOP on Friday night. Finished it 5am (was very much drawn into the game), traded it in Saturday. Im done. Was worth my money...but I don't care to revisit this game.

Bottom line, expect to hear about layoffs in Rockstar soon. This game, as good as people saying is FAR from hitting its money point. No money, no job...layoffs. done.
