I agree with Shiv's comments, and is only the demo I played eh.
I think this game actually looks better than Gears Of War 2.  Is it better overall?  That one is debatable.

What I CAN say is that this game satisfies Arcman's Theorem...and is hereby *Arcman Approved* :icon_thumleft:

Nice post Shivadee, I am wondering though, what in your opinion is the best looking game on console right now :)

I bought the game yesterday and cuss the living daylights out of it because of sluggish controls.

I took a break and was seriously contemplating on returning it the next day. I went back to it and tweaked my controls and found it MUCH more responsive. It takes some getting used to but it is well worth it.

Those that know me may know.....i have alpha and beta tested this game, even concept stage tested it where we were falling through floors and having op'd weapons. *got it for 10 bucks 3 days prior to launch from the SD SONY store* shhhhhhhh ...but couldnt go on the public servers with it till release

Visually this game is hands down amazing. It may not be the BEST looking i have played on a console (yes those of you know the tv i use) but it is DAMMMMMN close. Its got sharp visuals, and a nice loooooooong draw distance when needed. Especially for online maps...which are HUGE.

Controls are the drawback here. Default controls are a good quarter second off in response time which can easily be fixed with increasing the sensitivity. When that is settled you need to get accustomed to other things, like being able to carry one gun at a time and the delayed (in comparison to other games) for grenade throwing.

First time i threw a grenade i almost blew myself up. The time it takes to release and throw is about 2 seconds...which is not instantaneous like a COD style game or otherwise.

On the OTHER hand.....throwing ALL THAT aside. This game is the DEFINITIVE shooter for the PS3. SONY took a gamble with those controls and it has paid off. People will be willing to cast aside their other FPS titles to play this game. It REEEEEEEEKS of leetness.

I miss the co-op option, but that is not why we bought this game.

I want SONY to advertise the living DAYLIGHTS out of this game...i want everyone and they motherinlaw to know bout this....you see Buju? The Vagrant at UWI who does walk up and down infront the place.....HE hadda know Killzone 2 out on PS3

KZ2 delivers. in spades. 360 got Gears and Halo?.......FINALLY PS3 got something to say. They got KZ2

i hear yuh shiv but sony still dropped d ball imo wit marketing kz2
a week b4 d game comes out we get d ad (which i hav yet to see on tv btw), if this was a M$ game believe me dat vagrant by UWI wudda know bout KZ2 lol, an tanty wudda b online fraggin n00bs (or being fragged herself due 2 old age lol)

Yes Sony should definitely be promoting this more but is it me or are there hardly any video game ads now. The last major video game tv ads were Gears 2 and Resistance 2.

Yep agreed.
Sony needs to have that thing marketed like crazy. In theaters, billboards and on TV. Seriously. I remember in IMAX watching the first Gears trailer. Most certainly the KZ2 video should be shown there, and in theaters.

As for visuals. It looks amazing....and DAMN close to some of the best visuals, but Gears still has its lighting and textures going for it. Im also noticing some shadow issues in this title, lots of aliasing and jaggies. It isnt the system atall in this case, its simply how it was made.

Best looking game? Have to give it to gears 2 for now, but really its by a flysh!t. Im seeing hue glints from my weapon and the environment mixing with the camera lighting....really amazing.

I just finished the campaign mode. Its alot shorter than most FPS games, but i dont mind that.

It has a decent enough story, but alot more in the characters should have been made. I was thinking of so much cool as hell plot twists and changes to make into this title. Still, the gameplay had me going right to the end, and I was very happy with it.

To add to this.....FINALLY Playstation has a female assist character to the main (for a shooter)......Evelyn. She's quite similar to Anya (Gears) but not as witty as Cortana, but Evelyn gets chalked up there with the ''cool'' chicks in these shooters. Not gonna spoil nothing else....you guys play out the campaign.

As for multiplayer....i cant....for the love of god.....shoot with a PS3 controler..the flat analogs with no off-axis just feels funny :( Its gonna take some serious getting used to.

serious shiv? i use both controllers (ps3 & 360) an fine neither really affects my play all that much
d only thing i find better on d 360 controller is d triggers for shooters

I played the first level. Um this game is MAD. The graphics so far have been on par with GOW2 maybe even slightly better. When I first started I didn't know whether I was looking at cutscenes or the actual game lol

Did not try online yet, one thing though it is taking me some time to get used to the controls, dunno what it is about it......

Very rarely am I COMPLETELY floored by new game, but Killzone 2 exceeded any expectations I had.
Sony has really delivered on this one.  I've played the first two levels.  To answer Eroo's question: yes,
but the lead up is much longer and appropriately cinematic.  This is HD next-gen gaming at its absolute
finest.  In my opinion, it looks MUCH better than Gears Of War 2.

The PS3 FINALLY has its 'killer app'.  :notworthy:

I agree with Arc. After playing through some more of this game I was saying to myself at certain points ah nice one Guerrilla Games your CGI looks oh so pretty in these cutscenes. Then I thought to myself perhaps this aint CGI and is actually in game. I went back in and sure enough there is no break in the action as the camera goes straight back into your FPS view.
The game in my opinion does look better than Gears of War 2, was very surprised by that.

It still taking me a while to get used to the "weighty" controls. Are other PS3 FPS games like that in terms of control?

Microsoft claims to have only begun though and to watch out for better visuals in upcoming titles....exciting times indeed.

Disagree with your points on visuals....When you say "graphics" what you mean? Texture? Line detail? Lighting? Splines?  Textures are awesome with no popins! Lighting is first class! Transition to the game is no big deal..This has been going on since XBOX/PS2 days with the LOTR games (but no where near as good looking). ......wait what size screen alyuh men playing this thing on? Because this game has awful animation (and i hope you all know what animation is)

adding something else

Now to BACK Killzone. I have to say this title IS the FPS the PS3 has been looking for and the PS3 owners will be quite happy. This game takes what works, and makes it ALL work together in multiplayer. It isnt innovative.....and frankly i couldnt give a f*ck. People under this false delusion they know their head from their @ss about what innovation is. Nobody cares if its innovative, they only care if its fun! And this game.....is FUN!.
