Ok so haven't played the campaign yet, did get in a solid 3 hrs on multi... we pwned for wha... 2hrs and 40mins? XD... honestly the other team was crap, though I give them credit for getting lix THAT long and staying in the game. That was... sorry gotta speak in MW2 terms DOmination for BF... then switched to squad deathmatch, was aight, came 2nd, then 3rd. It's 1:30am sue me. What is my first impression? a welcome change from the frantic pace of MW2, wish the squads were larger than 4 though and graphically it was underwhelming in multi, esp after watching those videos of the single player... but then I guess that's exactly why. Either way going good so far, few quirks here and there, though the shooting feels ALOT tighter now and the matchmaking is solid so far. Will be switching between this and MW2 as far as FPS goes, otherwise though I am prepared to lose MANY hours of my life sweating FF as soon as I get it... hopefully friday.

W1nTry my boy, you need to see it running at max settings in full DX11.  You will wet yourself...and you may not want to play the console version again.

...oh, and I found out what the 'HBAO' setting does for the graphics.

Check these two screens...

HBAO off

HBAO on

Horizontal Based Ambient Occlusion...basically renders all the shadows better, and gives a scene more realism.

http://developer.nvidia.com/object/siggraph-2008-HBAO.html

Here's another example...

ON                                                                                                         OFF

Its rather performance intensive.  I turned it off and my average fps jumped from 80 to about 120.  Rather significant wouldn't you say?
I must admit though, I may not have noticed what was missing, with all the lead flying about and all.  Who have time to look at shadows? :)

I finished the campaign recently (hard difficulty). Very entertaining overall.

Only issue I had was with the AI. All the enemy seemed to do was focus on ME and throw everything they had my way. I mean, my squad mates are just standing there in the open, shoot at THEM for a change -__-.  This one battle I was in a hut while a fellow squad member was in a hut next door. When the battle was over, my hut was OBLITERATED and his just had a couple bullet holes 0_0

Small ting though. Besides that it was fun all the way =]
You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount.

I figured the PC version would be more visually eye catching as well let's face it the PC has the horse power, but study not I am not phased by the lack of eye candy in the multi, once the single has it (which i've been told it does) as you put it, who has time to notice shadows when lead flying everywhere XD

From a console standpoint, BC2 is wayyyyy better visually than it's predecessor and I cannot stress this enough, but if you have a 5.1 HI-FI system hooked up to your console/PC then by all means crank that baby up when playing this game. The sound is absolutely amazing.

That said, It was good gaming last night guys. Poor Nick was the lone guy outside our squad, LOL.  :happy0203:

I cannot sing enough praises to that sound engine in bad company 2. AMAZING.

we get on real sweaty last night. some heavy heavy military business.

My assault performance quadrupled after switching to secondary fire only and grenade. Swear I only pull the trigger on primary in times of desperation now as it is a complete waste of time. I want to line up those developers and shoot them with a assault rifle twice and let them know that a man supposed to DIE from a few shots. Not after emptying a whole mc clip and then some caps from the hand gun. STEUPS.

They need to borrow the netcode/hit detection/damage code from MW2

funny enough, I picked up someone LMG and got about 8 kills with it. Much more effective than any of my unlocked assault weapons. So maybe they just neutered the low level guns or something.

That's my only nitpick, other than that....Bad Company 2 is a firm candidate for GOTY 2010

It seems like the hit detection went down on some of the newer version servers.  I think all
of us experienced a little of that, because MY medic's SAW seemed to not be hitting anyone,
or doing much damage (or, perhaps my skills have diminished?).

Other than that, a stellar experience was had by all.

GOTY 2010?  Well, so far I haven't seen any other  challengers. :)

Any Helicopter is THE MOST difficult thing to control in that game. But last night was a treat, cause to see two Heli's from both sides battling it out for almost two minutes, was a sight to behold. Gotta wonder how in hell's name are they doin those manouvers in the air like that.

A guy even tried to ram me with his helicopter last night, LOL.

Hit detection has been very good on LIVE so far. Problems I had with the Beta/Demo's seem to have gone.

That was indeed funny watching that guy fail at cutting you up with his chopper blades and instead bailing out after getting blazed from my anti-aircraft gun...lol

And I agree about the bullet damage...I was on a roll with my sniper last night as usual...heads be popping from afar! LOL

oh just read that bullet damage goes up when you get the magnum unlock at level 14/15

Might try using regular ballistic ammunition once magnum comes into play.

Berzerk, you at that level already not so? Does it make a difference?

On another note, if anyone isn't seeing server pings in the browser, try launching Steam as administrator (on Windows 7). Worked for me.

My advice Wyatt is to also take note of the 5000pt pins to be achieved in your stats listing and focus on them.

The assault rifles aren't the greatest because of the ridiculous recoil, so burst fire really helps you on accuracy.

Yeah the LMGs I really think are good at mowing down 2-3 ppl before having to reload.

I realized focusing on them have caused me to jump up a level quite easily
