Ive been fascinated with origin of words aka its Etymology for a long time.
Certain things we say and names we use, i see the connections to other things in them and wonder about the roots and why words came to be the way they are.
http://www.etymonline.comnot 100% complete or anything but is a growing source of word Etymology.
For instance, one thing that has bothered me for a long time,is the use of the word Jesus.
I wondered why a clearly non Aramaic name was being propagated as the name for the son of God.
Knowing that his name is Eashoa, i wondered why that wasnt used as openly as Jesus, i wondered if there was some nefarious ploy behind it all arrrrrrr (pirate arr, dont know why i did that), but seems to be a simple case of transliteration, and in transliterating from aramaic to hebrew to greek, there seems to be some words that dont have a greek/english equivalent, so the name gets transliterated as J e s u s.
Pretty cool, puts my mind at ease.
Just thought id share some Etymology with yuzze guys and gals.
Check out some others, like mildew and black.
Cool stuff
