"My guess is that pretty soon, that system is going to stop booting altogether." well so said so done, this morning at 10:45am as a last ditch effort, I tried to replace the power supply (one last time). now the pc won't boot at all. Guess the motherboard is really dead. "RIP" Dell 4700. the good news is I can recycle the parts an build another system. don't know if the processor is any good, since most of my systems are AMD base.
Ok I don't think booting into the BIOS means that the problem is not windows related. That sounds like a virus to me(correct me if I'm wrong) if you get to the windows logon screen then goes limp heheh.Try booting into windows in safe mode (can be selected after pressing F8 while pc is booting up) and see if you get into windows and it stays on in safe mode.What anti-virus program was on the pc?
