Unfortunately Crixx, we live in a world with 6 billion people who come up quite a bit short in following the "WWJD" mantra.

As a side note, and just thinking out a loud, I wonder what the religious statistics are for the world nowadays. That is how many atheists, how many christians, hindus, etc...

GEEEEEEEEZ everyone gets all "let's get the Christian's" when they do something wrong

ORLY?!?!?? EVERYONE? AGAINST CHRISTIANS? ...EVERYONE?
Don't make it a religious issue of victimization PLEASE! I'm a muslim (and proud of it) and trust me you don't know the half of it when it comes to blaming muslims for the MAJORITY of "Acts of Terror". The finger may not be directly to me but the same way you feel a how about the minister business same way I feel when people with little or no evidence blame MUSLIM TERRORISTS and not just TERRORISTS......k i stopping there abruptly but w/e

Point is don't make it a Christian thing cuz if it was a Pundit , Imam , Rabbai or any other religious figure more than likely people would have asked why they needed a gun.

but really, lol at "zohh noeees, the christians have teh worllddd of persecution and pwight :("
ahaha ^_^

but one of the reasons WHYYYYY people may jump all over an issue when it involves a Christian clergy person, is because....yes i have the balls to say it ... Christians are super duper judgemental and love pointing fingers (i.e the super duper judgemental and finger pointy ones, not all lol ok?)

Um did you read what i posted? Let me spell it out

GEEEEEEEEEEEEZ everyone gets all "let's get the Christian's" when they do something wrong

My point was he was a minister.....of a Christian church so my statement was limited to Christians. I know about the persecution of Muslims I have quiet a few friends who face that and we always joke about them going to airports. Silva i wasn't disrespecting your religon or anything i was basically drawing reference to something

Let me make something very f*cking clear here. I will blame the PARENTS not the GAME for f*cking that child up. I mean who the f*ck lets a teenager play games like this when its WRITTEN ON THE BOX and OPENLY ADVERTISED for a certain age. This is just for starters. Second is banning him AFTER he got his hands on the damn game, and then ALLOWING him a system that will LET him play something like this.

On a side note...once again NEO hits us with his "i dont get it" jokes. Dread....no offense  and ting, yuh cool and all...but yuh jokes just......way......like...way :P :D

Shiv, if I read the story right, I think he kinda 'snuck out' to get that game eh...I don't think
the parents willingly bought that one.

ok I tempted to lock this thread (as i started it) till everyone cools down.

and shivadee... re-read the opening post. The kid sneak out and bought the game. (see paragraph part highlighted in red)

I'd chastise the dad mainly for putting the game in the SAME place as the gun.
God is dead.

Holup.....sorry if I implied that his parents knew he bought the game that was not my intention.

For GoW2 midnight launch in San Diego i was in line with a bunch of kids WITH their parents. I mean, if the parents okay it, well we cant tell them how to raise thier children. In this case, its a big as hell fine for the STORE who sold that game. that is illegal.......VERY illegal.
This was what I was trying to get at. Sorry...man happy on doubles (eh eat doubles in 6 months)

@ NEO - Price is Right ..man find...cut, paste and link oui :D

hmm, let me highlight also that some parents have a real challenge in staying on top of digital media.

For example, my son's friend (about 12 years old) brought across a "Futurama" DVD for the boys to look at while on vacation.

At first glance, nothing seems out of place. A regular cartoon. My daughter (age 3) sat down taking in the action. Now anyone familiar with Futurama will know how mature the content of that show is. Luckily, I caught them in the act and banned the dvd from the house.

But the question is, how many other DVDs like that have slipped in through the cracks? How many more are still to come?

Same goes for games. Whether the kids sneak out to acquire, borrow from a friend, (and my personal fav) download it from the net. The parents have a HUGE task in monitoring and prohibiting the inappropriate material.

In fact, I'll go so far to say that less tech savy parents don't stand a chance.

Don't have a solution (save for continued awareness campaigns) but the situation is a bit grim.

I'll always remember playing Mortal Kombat as a kid. My parents, good parents though they were, bought the game for me and my younger bro as a christmas or birthday present for $600.00. Never for a second checking the rating.

pressure.

Fatalities at age 11 :D

My kids are going to have  a hard time trying to get around me but I'm going to be cool and teach them right from wrong.

Bringing homes a's and a+'s - right
Taking daddy's favorite glock and putting two in his dome for denying you playing Halo 6 - wrong
Running into the bedroom screaming because you had a nightmare there by ruining daddy's chance of getting some action - WRONG!! (with a cutarse factor lined in)
Playing bloody vids games....- so long as you eh try to snipe the neighbourhood kids........i might let it pass once I know you can handle yourself.

lol @ cutarse factor

You know, as a kid, playing Quest for Glory and Ultima had such a profound impact on my psych. A lot of who I am today stems from experiences in those rpgs.

To a little lesser extent, books and comic books. I always laugh when Crixx says he has a super hero complex but it is something I'm sure anyone whose read way too many comics as a child can relate too.

Point being, it is really important what you expose your children too during their formative years.

On another note, we used to have a serious problem with this @ the GLs because you'd have primary school kids playing Lego Racers 2 but sitting next to an older gamer sweating hard Grand Theft Auto or Soldier of Fortune. They'd constantly resist all attempts to segregate 'em from the mature crowd.

Not an easy task. Parents can't be everywhere and kids are quite likely going to be exposed despite best efforts. Rock and a hard place yes.
