So far the cinema in home has been a big waste for me. I thought it would be streaming so everyone would be seeing the same thing as everyone else at the same time but instead u have to wait for it to download.

Friday past.", I was in home with Veronica Belmont, Qore Host.
It was hilarious. A big group of guys following her where ever she went.
There was this jerk though thAt kept moving his avatar too close for comfort to Veronica's...

Her ID is "Qorevee" btw, and well her list is maxed out.
Added her a long time ago and we had some text chats and played some LBP :D
She's pretty nice... Hehe

Why can't game launching be done from the xmb instead of having to go into home? Doin it thru the friends list would be faster.

Why can't game launching be done from the xmb instead of having to go into home? Doin it thru the friends list would be faster.

It would be faster. Sony's strategy at launch was basically let every company handle invites, friends list, parties, voice chat themselves. This meant basically a game online options (options to connect, chat, etc) were only as good as the game developer.

If a game has special code in it for gamelaunching I dont see why Sony can't make it run from the XMB also.

In my opinion the reason there is game launching in Home now is to take the 'Live Party' idea to the next level (at the expense of having to load up a 3d world first). So you go in a Home game area and most likely you gonna meet like minded ppl there  who would want to play the game. You can discuss strategy and in the case of Warhawk have a visual means of planning.

Home game launching can be a great thing but it shouldn't stop them from trying to implement it from the xmb as well.

agree with eroo but game launching from xmb only would only limit wat sony tryin to do which is to build a community among ps3 ppl (cuz we all know it seriously lacking)
xmb GL would mean only ppl on yuh friends list
whereas tru home like eroo said u meet like minded ppl, get to know dem (filter out d @ssh0les) strategize an jump into a game.

one thing sony need to do is make home load faster AND give us the option to boot str8 into home one time
also d phone a friend feature needs to bump up to at least 6 ppl u cud call an hav a sorta conference call this 1 friend at a time is bull

Well I recently spent a bit of time in Home last night after not using it for a long time and here are my impressions.

Cons

  • Advertising that photo sharing now available in Home and then charging US $3.00 = FAIL
  • Create instances of games, I don't want to wait and watch other ppl play games.
  • Still nowhere near enough facial hair options

Pros

  • Lots of new items. I hadn't gone on so long that when I logged into home I got a few alerts about items I've unlocked from playing games.
  • Lots of new clothes. There is quite a variety among user looks now. No longer a mass of users wearing jeans and home t-shirts. RE5 and new SF4 costumes including CAMMY.
  • Videos are now streamed. You dont have to wait for videos to download now, as soon as you enter a new space they load up and play. The e3 area was the best. The video is loaded at the current point when you join. I hope they change the theaters to this. I always found all users in the theatre should see the same movie at the same time.
  • A lot of new game spaces. More than triple when last I was there. EA has a very good space.
  • Resistance 2 (and I think SF4) game launching added
  • More than just dancing. There are quite a few games to play now
    • Bowling
    • Pool
    • Some old arcade style games
    • Some sort of flying saucer game in the Central Area
    • Chess
    • Red Bull Flying Challenge
    • Driving game similar to Pole Position
    • Poker
    • Some game in Guitar Hero space, not sure what it does(was full so I couldn't play it)
    • Xi
    • Siren Mini game (Japanese Horror Survival)

The last two are the ones that really stand out. Xi seems to be a sort of puzzle/clue game. The Siren game is pretty awesome. I cant say enough good things about how such a short experience can be so satisfying but I never felt such tension since playing Silent Hill 1. If the full game has the same atmosphere as this mini game then I am definitely getting it.

Home has come a long way and has really improved a lot.
