I ditched the Flamethrower and Pulse Rifle from Chapter 2.

My mainstay waepons for the rest of the game were: Plasma Cutter, Ripper, Force Gun, Contact Beam.
When out of stasis the next best strategy is to knock down enemies using the Force Gun, and then use
the Ripper to cut em up.  That technique is especially effective against groups of enemies.

The Force Gun also takes care of groups of the little 3-legged hatchlings that can swarm you and kill you quickly.
The Contact Beam is really powerful, but the charge time only makes it useful on slow or downed enemies.

Woody my boy...you are really missing out if you don't play this one.

I used pulse rifle, ripper, plasma cutter and of course the primary gun.
Used pulse rifle for  fast moving enemies, and ripper to cut the hell out of the slow ones and used alt-fire with it to keep enemies back. Works nicely. Whats the farthest anyone upgraded their Rig?

Highly recommended survival horror. Dead Space is probably the best survival horror to hit this gen's consoles, and yes its WAYYYYY better than Resident Evil 5.

I'm maxed out...everything...all weapons, level 6 suit etc...
It is aweesome killing enemies then, the weapons fire with a force, much more enticing to play the game.

Yea about 3 and a quarter, inclusive of the abilities, stasis etc..
I got the 100% trophy/achievements for the game. :P
I also beat the game using the plasma cutter only. never fired another gun.
Also beat the game on impossible mode.
(the one gun was during the impossible mode!  :shakehead: The game is so hard on impossible mode, you never have enough money to buy new weapons,
and it takes about 6 shots to take down an enemy, you need to only buy ammo for the plasma cutter *+ Health*, sell everything u find ammo etc.., balance selling and using of power cores for upgrading plasma cutter, and at the end of impossible mode I only had a level 3 suit.)

^^^
All that goes to show this game was awesome. I usually would never put so much effort into a game after i finish it.
Woodyear be sure to get it, it is the underrated, unrecognised gem of last year.
