Resgistry Cleaners/fixeruppers

I the feeling after the recent virus/trojan assault yesterday on my pc the registry is potentially badly wounded (yes everything still working fine luckily) but the question is which of those claimed registry cleaners out there are really safe to use??

I had used CCleaner before but not really sure how effective that is in making things right instead of raping your registry of stuff they "think" are not relevant...

Any suggestions on this topic?

JV16 Power Tools has a very nifty registry 'cleaning' component in it.  I've used it for years without incident.
Haven't used that new version though, but it may be worth a try.

i use C CLeaner also, but then i've been plagued with 'issues' spanning across various systems

Boy I have a feeling that CCleaner does more harm than good, it caused me to do a fresh intall of windows cause all of a sudden all my game profiles became duds. Totally pissed me off....

That one Arc put up I'll try for the while but if you are using CCleaner PLEASE make backups of everything and don't be stupid like me...

i have ccleaner as an auto run at shut down to clean my system. i have been using it since beta like that.

what configuration do you use?
