I just used cif as a thermal paste remover surprisingly it did a really good job removing the thermal paste off my cpu and hsf, should i be worried

Well its only a blunder if the CPU no longer works. Not that i'd do that to any of my cpu's...

Mentholated spirits/thermal compound remover. Check Saxboy.

Once you sure all traces of Cif and moisture have been removed, there shouldn't be any problems.
Those CPU heatspreaders can take a LOT of punishment. Remember when I lapped my Q6600?

As ah say dat, maybe I should do the same to my Q9300.
