I was reading an article about the recent bandwidth caps Comcast has instituted in the US. They have put a limit on the combined uploads/downloads for the month at 250 GB.

I was wondering for us here on GATT how would such a limit affect you if it was put in place?

for persons with new broad band connections who have recently purchased copious amounts of HD space
it would indeed be teh suckage...

for me who moving bits and bytes around till i get my new machine in two months
it would just piss me off if they kill my streaming

At home my usage is minimal (now) at the office it can range from a couple hundred MB to a coupe GB cause we have a FAST @$$ connection into a sister ISP who is directly connected to the NAP of americas XD 80ms ping response to NYC. On average though, i'd say less than 1 GB per day though.

I could move bout 50gb a week if I really downloading...

A 250gb cap aint so bad for me at least...

Yeah for real, perhaps down the road when HD subscriptions are more popular and game updates get larger...

Well think about it, Xbox Live is implementing Netflix subscriptions in November...and HD movies average around 2GB - 5GB depending on the movie time frame, so..I can't see how putting a cap would benefit anyone in this respect, on top of downloading everything else...

The cap was meant to reduce cost to the ISP, due to a few bandwidth happy users. Are you capped in any way on ur connection?

Actually, the upgrade seems to be only for the 6Mbit customers so...hard luck 2Mb'ers, sorry to get yall hopes up.

and worse yet, no specs on this acer they are offering

being an acer, it already sounds better than tstt's offering, but with no specs on either website.. hmmm..
