4 Pin IDE To Serial ATA Power Adapter question

Hi

I got an older machine from a relative the other day and I need to put in a larger hard drive. I have an extra SATA drive I want to install and the motherboard supports it. The power supply however only has regular IDE 4 pin power connectors on it. I have never had to use one of these adapters before would it be safe to use? No chance of it sparking and going up in flames right?

Would prefer to not have to buy a whole new PSU just for a new HD....

I do use them currently in my PC, and have had no problems with them. It's unlikely that you'll have problems either.

Yeah those are very common and quite safe to use. Your favourite pc parts shop should have in stock.
