I honestly enjoyed the first one more, though it was an entertaining movie in the least. I had a similar feeling after Dark Knight in that at the end, I was suffering severe sensory overload.... O_O I think I need a better seat (not that the one I had was bad, I just usually sit much further to the back). It was decent and well there's Megan Fox so all is not lost XD.

On another note in light of doom comment I actually enjoyed watchmen (it was different i'll leave it at that).

Went to see it in CC8 sat.
Walked out of the movie when they were in the desert scene.
Both the movie and CC8 sucked major balls... and those balls weren't mine.

And as for that lulz review, it was SPOT ON!
The freakin movie lacked EVERYTHING besides explosions (which looked like 4th of july fireworks btw... did i see the July 4th special edition on sat?)
sad times for entertainment in the least.

And imagine, so much ppl say watchmen was crap. Maybe ppl want their movies as dumb as they were when they were 4 years young!
Dude exactly. I was actually enjoying this till they met jetfire and ended up in the desert, it got worse from that point onwards. Sorry i like my movies with a lil more substance :P

Hmm, so I guess you guys wanted Megatron, The Fallen and Optimus to sit at the round table and have an intellectual conversation about the Matrix and have a vote in the Senate of Autobots and Decepticons so they could vote on what to do with the Matrix.....its a movie about Alien Robots fighting....live with the over the top action or don't bother going to see it...It is a fight between the Autobots and Decepticons, always has been and will be the case...if you are looking for intellectual movies, go see a suspense movie...:P

Believe it or not, Megan Fox was the one to actually complain about this movie and Bay:

Regardless of her acting talent, which frankly has yet to be proven (look to Jennifer’s Body for that) you’ve got to love Megan Fox. On screen some comes across like the ultimate fembot, glammed- and dolled-up almost beyond the point of humanity. She’s a pouting, posing, running machine, especially in the hands of Michael Bay. But in interviews she’s reliably awesome, because she evidently thinks she’s hot enough to say any damn thing in the world. And, for right now, that might be true. Cue a bunch of slightly trash-talking comments about Bay and Transformers 2, which has led to a head-shaking, condescending response from Bay. What better way to start the weekend?

Earlier this month Fox dropped the first Bay bomb, when she said that of her acting ability, we’d only seen “seven percent. On the new one [Transformers 2], I tried. But unless you’re a seasoned veteran, working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience.” Which might not be a dig against Bay exactly; more like a truthful assessment. Her follow-up makes that pretty clear. “I don’t want to blow smoke up people’s ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, ‘All right, I know that when he calls Action! I’m either going to be running or screaming, or both.’” Then she said that she still doesn’t understand Transformers 2, because it must be a movie made for geniuses.

Check the article for Bay's  response, which includes the following line:

Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did “Transformers”—and then he exploded.

This is what I don't understand. TF Main Story = Big Good Robots from other planet fighting Big Evil Robots from same planet. I don't recall any bitching about the original mythos which was full of plot holes and ridiculous writing, but I guess the excuse is it's a cartoon. The sheer ignorance of some people is amazing, the man try to please the fans and still it ain't enough.

Dunno if people was expecting some Dark Knight movie from Mr. Bay, I went expecting to see big robots fighting and Optimus pwning as he did, I was pleasantly surprised that the autobots didn't fold up like they did in the cartoon (clearly they have been watching UFC over the 2 years, while the decepticons have been hiding on saturns moon or something)

Megan Fox has never been hot to me..

Have you guys ever watched cartoons in your lives? And enjoyed them?
Transformers was just like that, an epic explosive entertaining episode.
I saw the plotholes and the stereotyping etc etc.. But it was all fun.
In the end I got to see Optimus Prime wtfpwn and that's what Transformers and the cartoon is all about!

look ... my real beef is with CC8 and dey waste of time sound system.
Yuh spend ah certain amount of money expecting ah certain mavie going experience (which was there when i went to see movies before), but for some reason, like they forget to turn on the surround sound system for the movie. The sound system sounded like watching a 7.1 movie on a stereo setup, with sounds missing, and almost no LFO

*BEWARE OF LONG POST (I have nothing to do today, lol)*

Before I answer you (Yes, I'm going to answer), I'd just like to point out some observations about the 'defenses' of this
movie. Usually they're something along the lines of:

I went to see Transformers fighting, that's what I got
I went for the action only, and I got that
Who cares about plot? Just seeing the Transformers is awesome
If you're expecting a movie with a good plot, look elseware
It's doing great at the box office so who cares
And the classic last resort - "F**k the haterz"

Now Apprentice,

"In the end I got to see Optimus Prime wtfpwn"

Off the top of my head I can compare that to this situation,

You go to a fast food outlet. You order a bucket of chicken. Let's say your favorite piece is the wing. You
get your order and when you look in the bucket it's full of SH!T. But in the middle of all that smelly, vomit inducing SH!T
there's your wing. So who cares about the SH!T, you got your wing!!!

"That's what the cartoon is all about"

I'm not ignorant. I know the source material isn't much.

Look at this list:

Star Wars - '77
Alien - '79
T2 - '91
Jurassic Park - '93

Guess what, those movies didn't even have source materials, yet they set standards for movies of this scale. And those
standards have been around for decades, guys.

BUDGET FOR TRANSFORMERS - REVENGE OF THE FALLEN - 200 MIL

That's about as big a budget as any of those films I listed.

Now with a budget like that, you don't think the writers could have been motivated to come up with something truly amazing?
They could have filled the plotholes of the series, given us new, original and truly awesome additions/expansions to
the Transformers universe. It makes you wonder how much Bay spent on writing, as compared to worthless scenes/explosions.
What a waste of money, and a waste on an opportunity to do something inspiring with a great series.

I mean, if the budget was 50mil or something, I could understand this crap...but 200!

And you guys ask why we're disappointed. You settle for this low standard of movie-making and guess what, the makers of this
movie are gonna see that and they're never gonna improve.

We could have something truly badass but if you're satisfied with
this sh!t, so be it.
You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount.

Ok this is my take...

all those michael bay movies mentioned by laertes, were heads and tails above transformers 2,(story aside) the cinematography, the action the scripting and the pacing, just meshed better than Transformers 2 ever did in its best moments... so please dont compare...

was transformers 2 entertaining? hells yea,had some comedy (but even that anyway id leave that right there) had a very strong cool factor, but the only part I would want to see again was the fight scene in the forest where Optimus fought off the decepticons...

There were TOO MANY GLARING PROBLEMS WITH THIS EFFIN FILM...plot holes aside, atrocious acting aside, story not flowing or making sense, simple careless common sense mistakes in the presentation, ...

its the simple careless mistakes that were made that made the movie feel rushed, slapped together and poorly executed...and with that budget there is no excuse.

its like Bay literally said F all of yourll id make cool robots fight, with cool effects and big explosions and take that in yuh pipe and smoke it...and id laugh all the way to the bank...

and im supposed to praise this Crap?

Y the rant?...cause this movie could have seriously rocked...instead I got one decent fight scene, and a crapload of fodder....

yea it will make money, but it's unbearably forgetable....this is like one of those cheap ass kickups you  go to globe to see, it has the same appeal factor...

my frickin word the potential was there man...

Now to look foward to Gijoe... :shakehead:...

is it just me or has the majority of movies (cept star trek) sucked this year?

@berzerker - Star Trek & Watchmen were great.

Quote

^QFT

@laertes:

"that's more of a rant than actual long post."
True. I did feel better after typing it, hehe.

"When you go into a fast food outlet you have choice, if you like wings you just order the wing combo dude."
Haha. Well let's imagine that those combos didn't exist and the chicken bucket is the only thing on the menu...

"With regard to the source material of Transformers... it's a movie based on a cartoon based on a toy.. a frigging toy."
Like I said, I know that. Still though, I still believe strongly that they could have come up with something better. They're
professionals, like I said they could have created a great plot that revolved around the toy. I hope that one day that will
happen.

"With regard to the budget and the writers.... the budget has very little to do with the writing of the movie, that budget
was very apparent in the special effects."
The Effects were great. Nobody can deny that. However the way in which they were used...i.e. the action...left more to be
desired. And considering that action is the only thing worth seeing here, it dosen't help that most of it is mediocre. I
guess that's just me though. A lot of people are liking this movie out there.

"Now keep in mind that this IS a Michael Bay movie eh, let's look back at what he has directed in the past..."
You know, I don't hate all of Bay's movies. Bad Boys and The Rock are great action movies. Hell, I even liked Bad Boys 2 for
the over the top violence. I think Bay is great at that sort of action, you know, guns and car chases and stuff. I feel a
movie like Transformers could have done better in the hands of a director who is familiar and has a good record with CG
driven movies. And for the record, Armageddon sucked.

"No one is asking why anyone is disappointed (at least i don't think so, i felt it was all rhetoric)"
Apprentice said he didn't get the disappointment, I was responding to that. Should have worded it better...made it sound like
I was talking to a few people lol.

"you don't like it then cool, no need to be hating."
Just stating my opinion is all. Not trying to make enemies =]

"I have my own little disappointments in the movie, but i certainly did not expect a deeply well written script to be found
in a Michael Bay movie."
Reminds me of that South Park Episode:

M. Night Shamalyam  and Michael Bay in South Park

Hey man i was and still am a fan of that cartoon. But from what i remembered the cartoon had more substance than the movie. U say it had at epic battles and what not but we did not mind then cuz it was a cartoon unlike Bayformers where they used all that money so Mr. Bay could sit back and say "Explosions everywhere!!!!!!Wheeee!!!!! Muahahahahahah!!!!!!!!"

And one more annoying point, wtf with all the cheese in this movie man, soooo much cheesy moments that was not needed or entertaining at all. The point is most ppl went in this movie biased to it which is why they saying what? reviews don't matter. It doesn't to them cuz they are biased. TF 1 was better IMO ( still not a fanboy for it). GI JOE FTW now yes!!!!!!!:P

Please clarify what you mean by those films did NOT have source material?
Jurassic Park novel 1990 Jurassic Park movie 1993
Star Wars Literature The original movie however was scripted by the great Lucas himself and the ideas originated from well before the movie.
T2 - I won't bother to link the wikis (not big on it though its convenient), this too was not based on a novel as the first movie I referenced.
Alien This too shows little 'source' material though the originating first few scenes were directly taken from a script written many years before the films inception.

Point is MANY films have alot of source material, I just want you to clarify what you mean.

As for Transformers, well there is the comic as source material as well... though comics to novels don't usually fall in line with direct comparisons.

As for GI Joe... i'll go see it as it's a part of my childhood, but I have REAL fears that they are going to ROYALLY F&*K IT UP... when on when was GI Joe EVER ABOUT SUITS??? WTF??? Transformers was imho well adapted... I really rather NOT have FRICKING CRYSIS SUITS IN MY YO JOE MOVIE...

Have u never seen Gi Joe : Sigma Six, it focused heavily on the JOEs using advanced tech to get the job done. That is also where the black suits came from as well. The accelerator suits are just in the movie for a certain scene, they cannot adapt the old gi joe to film properly without it ending up corny and childish. I don't remember TF movies sticking to the cartoon either. :P In all Rise of Cobra seems to be taking it's cues from GI JOE: Sigma Six. Nuff said.
