...and that's the kind of thinking, Berzerk, that has us here today...where we have to be online...to play SINGLE-PLAYER.  :/

I can't be the only one who has a problem with this.

No question that it deters piracy, but at what 'cost' to legit buyers with spotty internet connections, or server issues?

Pray that the next 'big' game from this publisher doesn't include a sweaty piece of DRM that will make allyuh bawl.
Will you be just as eager to dip in your pockets then?

...or will you go right on 'diabloing...'?

Ill be just as eager to dip into my pockets. D only drm i dont like, is limiting me from d number of times i can install d game on a particular machine or limiting me to 1 install, that kind of drm is balls. But having to be online. Man i welcome dat. I say all games should be like that, save me d headache. Best DRM ever , for me. If all i have to worry bout is being online, that is no worry atal. GG
And d strength of diablo is coop. If you not enjoying this game with others, yuh doing something wrong.

But like i said, this game is THAT good, if d game cost 150$ id buy it. Online DRM is d least of my concerns. Worth every penny.

While I fully understand where Arcman is coming from, the DRM I really have an issue with as Messiah said is the intrusive ones that affect my game.

Blizzard know what they doing, the online is needed for it, online chat, auction house etc is all part of the experience. It needs to be online, period. If u have online issues, then this ain't the game for you.

The way Assassins Creed 2 etc did it wasn't cool, that intruded on the experience, but Diablo is a mostly multiplayer affair, very similar in scope to an Mmo. For this particular title, I wouldn't even call it DRM, simply a requirement to play the game.

I dont see blizzard ever releasing a "non-online" game. So from blizzard we dont have a single thing in d world to worry bout. Not to mention, blizzard is a shining example of pc gaming. and arguably the biggest player in the world of PC gaming. They have never ever ever disappoint. Blizzard always delivers. Going from their track record, your fears aren't warranted.

Now stop complaining, buy d game, and join d swet. I know these type of games is not your cup of tea. but make an exception for this one. It's worth it.

I agree with this statement except for the minor balancing issues they may have with certain games i still love their products. Blizzard to me delivers games that i can continuously play because of the online aspects...i am gettin my copy of Diablo tomr so we go link....been playin on my cousin acct and i want my own

Arc, we both know why publishers/developers require such heinous online drm tactics

Discussed that topic to death

Certain class of gamers have forced this situation upon us.

The cow has firmly left the barn and is now happily eating grass in greener (always online) pastures.

Steam, Origin and Battlenet are online centric DRM tools that do a bloody good job at ensuring gamers pay to play.

It is a boon to the industry (which was brought to the brink of extinction)

I'd say it is the lesser of two evils. (the second evil being the loss of the PC platform as a viable marketplace)

Oh, don't think I don't remember.

My concern is what all the OTHER publishers might do.
Obviously this model works for Blizzard's games, because the games themselves have many integral online components.
It's not an issue for Blizzard fans, but what about Ubisoft, that has implemented this for ALL their games now, regardless
of the fact that you're playing SP, which in most cases has no online component.  Ridiculous.

I am sure a light-bulb has turned on in other publishers' heads when they saw this 'success'.
If you play Blizzard's games only, then you have nothing to fear, but for the rest...I am afraid...very afraid at what the future could hold.

to be honest, I don't think blizzard games have any more of a claim to online components than those of any other publisher.

The ones I mentioned in my example above all have games with similar online functionality (namely Valve and EA)

Using internet based drm to weed out piracy is a strong and bold move that has been ongoing for some time.

As many echoed in this thread, gamers seem to be willing to put up with it now.

cest la vie.

The auction house is an addiction by itself. I spending about 50% of my gametime just in their selling and buying loot.
All loot based games should have an AUCTION HOUSE!

blizzard u nasty bastard, always finding ways to zap man time!
