«

June 10, 2008, 07:33:06 PM »
Hi guys coming to u'll for help again. i hav jus been accepted into university to do architecture an i need a laptop that can handle CAD work and gaming. Cad work basicly include drawing and rendering. from my research, i hav found one laptop that fits the bill.
Toshiba Satellite® : X205 : X205-SLI5
http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/satellite/X205/X205-SLi5
specs im lookin for are:
must hav a 17" or bigger screen (cad users will kno a small screen ain't gonna cut it)
must be around $12,000TT
i like the fingerprint reader but its not a must
must hav wifi
must be dual or quad core
must hav atlease 2GB of ram
an it must hav a dedicated graphics card (two would b nice)
would like any suggestions. oh i need suggestions quick, need 2 buy soon.
thanks in advance for all u'll help guys

you need to understand something about the laptop market
its a big huge rip off market
there is no such thing as price performance in the laptop market
so avoid the hype and the "ultra portable/uber stylish" rigs that cost an arm and a leg
look for quality parts and good waranties.
i just realised how expensive "high end" laptops have now become
right now iam configuring a dell, not an xps but an inspiron, that i think will meet your needs well and cost much less than its xps breathren
wow i must admit that asus lappy is most impressive.
and probably a better buy than the toshiba or an xps or an alienware alx system
ok that asus looks great, also lower down on the page for the asus is another asus that is also great
go to dell and configure an inspiron 1720 .
iam quite surprised at how good that laptop can be configured
check out acer as well
new egg has some good options, look around
yu dont need to go all the way up to 2k us
aim lower and take shipping into consideration

That is one hell of a rip off $2500 laptop m8, you could reduce the price a little by going to vista home premium instead of vista ultimate. about $150 savings there.
Check out HP this one can bge customized to the same specs like you have above but comes with a 512mb 8800m gt

Tanks Slaming, jus checked out the hp. its good but the price comes up to $2500 when i try to get to the specs of the asus, which is too much. so far the asus seems to b the best bet. Keep those suggestions coming as quickly as posibble, need 2 purchase soon. Tanks. Oh an to Crixx_Creww, from what i hav seen, quads start at $3000+ an dat way out of my price range. wish i could get it tho. dat would be sweet.

remember what i said about laptops being an ultra scam? there is no such thing as price performance.
and did you choose the inspiron 1720 with the 1 year warranty? that starts at 1100 i believe and with all the specs it came up to 1750 or something like that
why in the hell would yu choose vista ultimate?....

lol@why in the hell would yu choose vista ultimate?.... was idle i guess. lol. i did it over an took the 1 year on d warranty. it cam up 2 $1950. i am using the asus as my benchmark, spec wise, an it seem as if all d systems i customise to com up to the same level as the asus cost more. the asus is a monster for the price. 500gb hard drive an 4gb of ram. an with a price of $1,749.99US (11077.45TT). an it has good reviews so Crixx_Creww let me kno if the asus is a good buy? oh an if u customise a system plz send d parts list u used plz so i could c. tanks.

Well, the 8600 is definitely not the best but with low enough settings it will play any game comfortably. After all, you can't expect the sun, moon and stars from a sub us $2000 notebook.

yea i could get it shipped from another place but he only goin 4 2 days so it would b difficult 2 make sure it arrives at the hotel on that date so dat y i went circuit city. he could jus walk in the store an buy it. an like i said it saves me shipping. i would hav gone tigerdirect but they cost $200 more.

Hey guys, well my new laptop was delivered last nite. its a monster. I went Asus.
Check the link.
http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-m70sa-b1/4507-3121_7-33060323.html
I ordered from a site called
www.lagoom.com
i have to give them props for customer service. ordering was smooth an easy an it only took a week an a half from the date of the wire transfer to the date of delivery.
Its a sweet piece of machine an its pretty light 2. Everything works rock solid. No issues. Havn't realy don any gaming since i was installing my cad software last nite. but i'll let u'll kno. i totally recommend this to anyone that has the cash.

The $800 USD price tag is pretty attractive, does MSI make good quality gaming laptops?
