no iam referring to the new socket for the i5
not cool, barely a year the damn i7 socket out and they release a new one for i5
if they make 1366 dead already, then this would be the first time i would not be able to support an intel board revision.

from what i gather they not killing either, one is the super-money-man-enthusiast platform (1366) other is for mainstream whoreing (1156)

is like the separate the x58 uber chipset from us with physicality not just price...p55 seems to be the chipset of choice on i5 boards as i haven't seen any x58s

so going by that if you want i5 take p55 iymc, if you want i7 and 58 pay up sucka

say thank god they aint make another one for i3

Finally a bit more info....

Quote
Is Intel’s Core i7 range of CPUs just not offering you enough power? Well, maybe you should start saving up for a Gulftown-based processor.

32nm Gulftown-based processors aren’t due to make an appearance until Q1 next year, but that hasn’t stopped XtremeSystems’ forum member JCornell getting his hands on some of that goodness.

What’s so special about Gulftown? Well, basically you have  a 50% increase in cores, threads and cache. That means 6 cores per processor, or 12 threads, and 12MB of L3 cache.

Not enough power? Why not get two, fit them onto a Skulltrail-type platform and have 12 cores at your disposal!

More info: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,688273/Core-i9-First-CPU-said-to-be-6-core-Gulftown-Update-New-details-leaked/News/

Wonder how long before we start seeing the lower-end, i7 920/Q6600 equivalent chips?

Oh that is just beautiful! And 1366 too means x58 compatibility, not as though i'll still be running x58 when I get one of those babies...

i5 750 review iymc.

@ $200us, that's the best (upper) price/performace ratio ive seen in a long time.

I see a lotttt of b1tches upgrading to this. Amd cant be too happy right now.

Well, I'll be damned.  Game performance seems to be smack dab right on par with a quad-core i7 at the same speed.

I'll wait for the superior Anandtech/Tom's/Techreport reviews to confirm that, and also
the inevitable comparison to AMD's Phenom II CPUs.

The operative word in that entire sentence answers your question, i'll give you a hint, it starts with a C and ends with an E, also it has an H

Intel fabs are in China? If so, that would explain a lot.
