Wait. Exactly why does he deserve a Darwin Award, now?

Isn't that reserved for people who die because of their own stupidity?
As awful as it sounds saying so, it looks more like the guy lived because of his stupidity.

Misleading title is misleading.

For being stupid enough to Blog about it after NOT helping KIDS out of the classroom like he should have...I mean come on, even in that position, you are a teacher, your job is to make sure the kids are safe under your supervision, you run out of the classroom without even looking back because you fear for your own life??? I would think that since he is a father of a 1 year old like the article said that he would have some empathy for the kids that he left as he ran to save his own skin...it's his utter Stupidity of Blogging about it that gives him a nomination for a Darwin!

No. It doesn't.

According to the site itself:

Quote
http://www.darwinawards.com/rules/

In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives. Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival.

To make a long story short, Darwin Awards are not for stupid people.
They are for stupid people who actually succeed in killing themselves through said stupidity, which clearly does not happen here.

So again.....no.

Still no.
In that case, it would have been an accident. Sure, he was stupid for leaving those kids behind, but if any of those things happened to him and he dies....it still wouldn't qualify him for a Darwin award. That's like awarding somebody who slips on the sidewalk and breaking his neck one. That wouldn't be death by stupidity. That'd be death by misfortune.

Redlum, you seem very unclear on the concept of a Darwin Award, so I'll enlighten ya.

Dying because you drank bleach on a dare? Darwin Award.

Dropping dead because you thought it'd be funny to stick your wee-wee in a power outlet? Darwin Award! :awesome:

Meeting your gruesome end by juggling chainsaws soaked in kerosene while smoking when everybody around you says it's a stupid idea? Yup. Darwin A-ward fuh realz.

Running away from a building out of cowardice? Not only is that not a Darwin Award, but it probably doesn't even deserve an Arbor Mist.

As in, see this?

NONE FOR HIM.
