Sigh...Im not impressed.

Also I hate that new prince person.

First POP was bess on all accounts. One of my all time favourites.

Second one...w00t more pop niceness. More of the same but bring it on.

Third one...This again? Ok then lemme play through...never finished it on account of boredom.

A fourth one now? They just beating this thing to death now.

*sighs* yall didn´t even read anything did you? This is completely disconnected from the other 3 (sands of time, etc). This is a completely new storyline and art direction. You guys disappoint me.

Ya...a new storyline that looks pretty damn gimmiky...even more so this rounds. A superpowered assistant? Besides, the gameplay does't look much different so what you essentially have is the same game...in what? A different setting. Sounds like a blowfest to me.

So explain to me, how is it that you'd play UT, UT2003/4/3 and other FPS and sing praises to the High heavens when in truth and in fact every FPS is the same principle, slightly different stories and HARDLY ever innovative? Just say you're not into platformers as opposed to giving a lack luster expression of what you THINK it will be.

Please, you should know that I don't hate on a game because it is a platformer. C'mon give me a little more credit than that.

Actually, i've stopped playing UT single player campaigns since UT2004. Why? Because its more of the same. Same goes for Splinter Cell series, the first was reaaally good and just faded away in terms of interest. The only reason Call of Duty 4 didnt have the same effect was because they COMPLETELY changed up the meaning of the series so much so that it is almost a completely different game.

Yea, the latest iteration of POP seems to do the same thing, but seems to include too many aspects of its predecessors to make it a truly new and invigorating game the first couple in the franchise was.

Well the way I see it, it's becoming more and more difficult to release anything that is 'INNOVATIVE' because of the SHEER volume of games there are. A platformer is a platformer, an FPS is an FPS. The only things we've seen improve really are graphics, useability, environments. But those don't constitute as innovative, its just as hardware becomes more powerful, games get more 'features' not innovations. Apart from the Wii perhaps cause all their games use the motion control which just adds to the fun. But if you think about it, on a PC you got a mouse, a keyboard, maybe a gamepad of some kind. There isn't much room for growth from the controls perspective. So the way I see it, you either like a genre or not. THere's hardly anything NEW persay, but you may just naturally take to one type over another. I like most genres. I play platformers, FPS, RTS, 3PS, RPG, MMORPG, Racers (more sim than arcade). I'm not big on simulations like tanks/aircraft/submarine. But there are ppl into that kinda thing. You're just not that big on platformers so without any 'new' material you're not particularly interested. But FPS is more your forte, so you see COD4 as THE SH1T but not POP. THat's the way I see it imho. I love COD4 but i'd play Gears of War just as fast.

Well you're absolutely right on all counts...except the part where you say "There isn't much room for growth from the controls perspective." BECAUSE its a pc, there ought to be a plethora of other options besides kb, mouse and gamepad. For instance, take a look at this recent development. Sure it was inspired by the Wii, but you get the picture.

I won't say im not a big fan of platformers since there are a few titles such as GTA that are VERY appealing to me. And the greater their success on the console, the greater the chance we'll see them come to the PC in an even more glorious form.

But coming back to the pop, as I said, I was a big fan of the first game especially, but it got old after a while. Yes ALL recurring titles are prone to this and there is only so much "innovation" that can be done. But in order to make an interesting and exciting game, the be all and end all does not HAVE to be innovation in and of itself. Remember, the devil is in the details. A combination of small and seeming insignificant details could mean the difference between a flop and the next game of the year.

I say there is little growth as over the MANY years and hundreds of controllers that come and go, the keyboard and mouse still rule the roost of the PC gamers. ANd I don't see that changing anytime soon. Not to mention software issues, price and of course BSOD... the PC gaming realm will have those hardcore that buy controllers, steering wheels and all peripherals under the sun, but the majority will remain the defacto. So the gaming experience won't vary much imho on the PC. COnsoles are the way forward atm.

even if it is the same game in a different setting, doesnt mean its going to be a blow fest.

if the first game was mega hardmatic, and they make the same game in a diff setting

doesnt it therefore mean the new game gonna atleast be hardmatic?

but i agree with awesomes that the pc has just as much, if not more room for control scheme growth than a console.

id love to sit infront... or rather dance around in front my pc with a light saber pawning men in some online star wars mmorpg... omg... george lucas owes me like a billion dollars for that idea i just gave him

But that's just it! Yes, pc has basically had kb and mouse since the beginning of time, but consoles have had gamepads ever since humans were fighting off the last set of Dinosaurs. The only console that has made any real innovation in terms of game interaction is the wii and there is absolutely no reason why the pc can't see far superior methods of control because of its nature.

So saying that consoles are the way to go simply because of an innovation made by ONE console in its controls is a pretty perplexing view coming from you, w1n. If you say consoles are the way to go because developers stand to make much more money off of coding for consoles only, or targeting colsoles first and making ports for the PC after they've made their paper, then i'd be the first to agree.

As for the sequel being "hardmatic" as you say, it IS possible. I could turn out to be very wrong and this latest pop wtfpwns all that came before, but looking at history, such a scenario is pretty unlikely. When last has some sequel for some game turn out like that? And what i'm saying is that for such a scenario to have even a remote chance of playing off, you need to pull of a helluvalot more changes than a different setting and addition of a female super powered companion.

All of that is inherent. But also understand that there is no 'other' defacto contoller for the PC. There is no 1 unified product that is recognised as the standard and as such game developers also have the problem of not being able to optimize their games to suite a specific controller style. Until there is an universally accepted controller/scheme the PC will continue to be plagued by the lack of cheap alternatives to the K&M

I agree, COD3 was BALLS and COD2 was great. There is a good eg of a sequel gone wrong (somewhat). However the fact that we have so little details on the new POP means that you haven't had enough information as to suggest it could be balls. Be optimistic meng. Ubisoft has been firing on ALL pistons for a while now, give em the benefit of the doubt.

I see more and more pc games/pc ports come with support for xbox 360 controllers so this is gradually becoming less and less of an issue. Besides, there are other non defacto controllers that can be configured as  per the user's preference. Plus, i'm sure you have/would love to get a kb/mouse setup for your xbox so hush lmao. Don't hate.

Agreed. Perhaps its best I wait until more details come forward before condemning the game. And in all fairness, COD2 and COD3 had an entirely different development team which would account for its suckageness.

Actually I think Arc already has something that fixes that. I not hating, i've been preaching it for a WHILE NOW!!! All MS has to do is make a K&M for the 360, put basic apps on it, have access to online office utilities and PORT World of Warcraft and that's it. They'll win the console wars, the HD player WARS, the PC wars... MS will wtfpwn everyones bases XD. Now if this comes to pass remember where you heard the idea XD!!!

Big PoP fan and i love this game. It goes back to the roots of what was Sands of Time....more puzzle and platform based gameplay than action. the Story is great...the voice acting is first CLASS and the music and graphics are just incredible. its like playing in a painting.
