Yeah even though I'm a Die hard MGS fan I won't trust the reviews from magazine that "specialize" on one console.  I'm going to buy it either way but for people waiting on reviews trust the multi-platform reviewers.  From all the Nasu previews and such though it seems this game will get some above average to perfect scores.

Reviews are pointless these days for anything more than a vague guide.
What can you do to end the hunger?
It's no surprise that many will die with the coming shortage of food
When there is no grain to feed the butchered cows
When there is nothing to feed yourselves...
Then you will see that money can't be eaten.

This Review comes from Gamepro who claim,

Quote
"This is video game story telling at it's absolute best, and represents a new high watermark for the craft, easily surpassing the superb BioShock and the subversive Grand Theft Auto IV."

I was getting this game whether or not it got stellar reviews but this just makes me want it more.  The only Magazine that has failed to give it a near perfect-perfect review was a dutch casual gaming magazine that said the game was too complex and too long (20hrs+).  This is a multi platform reviewer magazine so you can trust this one a little more that the PS ones.

Well the greatest flaw in this game is basically the greatest strength for either hardcore gamers or fans of the series.  The action now is all over the shoulder shooting similar to RE4 and Gears of War, you can even enter FPV for an even more accurate shot.  People who already have their minds turned away from the game are gonna crap talk it whether or not it's a good game saying it's "over-hyped" which has been abused so much these days by fanboys around the net that believe ever major commercial hit is over praised.

Of course the game isn't released yet and only a handful of reviewers were able to get their hands on it.  Maybe a major fault might be found with the game but why do people love to hear bad news rather than the good?  It should be an awesome game for people who own PS3's already nonetheless.

IGN gave it 9.9 :|
They could have just rounded it off...

Their reason for not a 10 is cutscenes too long???

err whatever..

But PS3 KILLER APP is definitely here...

Well there has been rumor that it's because they don't want to take the spotlight off of GTA4 which received a 10 but you know, don't know how true that is.  I haven't checked the review for my self yet but i mean 9.9 is still a pretty damn good game, better than alot I guess.

Just thought I'd say this......MGS4 will live up to its hype, maybe more.....guaranteed. Yes, I mean guaranteed! My instincts have always been right, but that just goes for me and die-hard MGS/Kojima fans.

Not sure what style you guys are into (maybe FPS?) but this game will certainly be big, really big. Most definitely even bigger than Halo3 (FPS is not my cup of tea) and GTAIV (I only hate the cussin')....and may even be the best in this decade. I pretty much knew how grand this game is even before GamePro made their review.

But, as I said....it may not be "the best" for gamers who hate the sometimes corny dialogue, the anime-esque atmosphere and characters, the mecha, the long-long-long cutscenes, the soap-opera movies, the in-depth philosophical themes, the in-your-face weird japanese stuff like GA-KO.......all of which I totally love.

So I know I'm a winner when I get this game. As Para-medic predicted in 1964, this is a movie where people can control the characters.

Btw, it's obvious that Raiden is playable.

How so?  Kojima Himself has stated MGS4 will only have Old/Solid Snake as a playable character, Unless you mean some sort of side story like RE4's separate ways or the online portion since it was revealed that key characters in the game show up playable online.

Oh, forgive me greyfox...in my post I was displaying a "positive" sort of theme to my statements meaning that when I said "I was sure Raiden will be playable" it was my finish-line to end the positivity on a big note....and to be a bit bold about my personal expectations/hopes I guess. It wasn't meant to be factual news.

But, nevertheless, Kojima stated he "will not do as he did in MGS2" and said that he has "learned his lesson and will not introduce a new character for the player to control" (I have that interview in a DVD of MGS4 trailers I made). Note that he said new character. Raiden is not new, in fact he was the star of MGS2 alongside Solid and was supposed to replace Snake (which happened) in MGS2, also stated by Hideo himself.
Also, Hideo recently said that Raiden is one of the characters that he loves alot, little to the knowledge of others....even if he insulted him in MGS3.

But, in addition to my gut feelings, there is a name on Snake's lifebar in MGS4 while the others games just stated "Life". Some say that that may be an unintentional hint to Raiden being playable giving hint to his name? Also, Hideo spent a year gathering feedback (an advantage of early trailers) and any interview that mentioned Raiden spoke of him being a badass compared to the wimp character from MGS2. The interviewers always then questioned Hideo about him being playable....they obviously would love to play as Raiden at some point. I greatly feel I know alot about Kojima-san when I say that he wants to give the fans what they want.

People want to play as this badass and so we will get it, I believe. I doubt it would be like the ResEvils (Jill&Chris, Leon&Claire, etc). He would want something original, and so I'm not gonna worry about how he'll implement the "separate ways" but it's obvious (from MGS2, and MGS4 trailers) that Raiden has a major story to settle and a point to prove in this Metal Gear.

Ryan Payton also said that they would not introduce a new character as far as this Metal Gear is concerned, but to expect some twists......Payton said those words in the same sentence.

Yeah, we did get to play with "GrayFox" in MGSVRMissions, but Raiden is a "Snake" of sorts and a major playable character in the series. Xbox patriots mainly got to play as Raiden and many Xbox owners only played that game (Substance) in the series (you'd notice that in their posts on worldwide forums). Raiden is MGS2's hero to them. Imagine not knowing about MGS1 and then playing one of the best games on the Xbox...HE is their star of the game. For series' fans he was a major disappointment.

So....umm..don't believe what I said, it's all opinions, educated guesses, worked-out predictions and expectations. MGS4 is a week away, we'll know for sure so don't worry about it greyfox. If Raiden is not playable, no big deal....the game will still be ULTIMATE.

If people don't know about the interviews, check gametrailers for these and HD trailers.

Also, here's a very biased review for a fun read:
http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/?p=443

And, if you guys haven't seen the "Courage is Solid" trailer, here it is (it'll be my intro for my MGS4 DVD of Trailers Part 2):
www.gametrailers.com/player/33854

New screens of MGS4 with pumped up graphics and lack of green tint released. And jungle bush screens!, Yay!!!

And....I'd expect you to know that Metal Gear Rex is playable. (Believe this one  ^_~).

Sorry for the long post.

Well I mean when I saw that part in the trailer it was a major spoiler for me, you see what seems to shadow moses and 2 previous Metal Gears about to square off in an epic battle.  I can see us being able to play as Rex since Kojima already introduced the Mk. II which was pretty fun to play in the online beta and had it's own designed controls and specific animations ingame, more vehicles seem to be possible.

Actually, if you look at a HD screenshot of Rex for the same trailer you'll see Solid in Rex's seat (where Liquid was in MGS1) and....what appears to be MkII I think.

Closer to June12, I may not post until I get and complete MGS4 because I'll be totally avoiding the internet's spoilers.
Might be a while from now since I'm currently looking for a job. It would help me purchase the 80GB bundle.

I think the coolest part of MGO for me would be the mode where the players would have to find Snake....I've got excellent observation skills. Haven't played MGO though, just seen screenshots.
