WTK: Best place for glasses?
« on: May 03, 2010, 11:41:08 PM »
No, not the glasses u drink from, but the ones u look through. Spectacles if you will.

I used Value Optical last time and they completely f'd up my lens so anybody but them. I dont want to spend 2k+ on a pair either.

Basically somewhere reasonable with decent quality.

how VO fk up yo?

been using them for years, still the one i head to when i ready, even get me a 10% discount last year when i bought my new pair thanks to being a returning customer (glasses since i was 12)

only other one i'd recommend is Ferreira Optical (623-3472), i not sure about their frame prices but they have a good track record, my mom prefers them

They made one of my lens much stronger than the other. I told them and they say ah go get accustom to it but the damn thing take nearly a year to get used to.

Then the "protective coating" on one of the lenses just like rub off so it just real cloudy. That start to happen before I even get accustom to the damn thing. The hard part is that lens alone cost $1700 and I didnt even get a good year's use out of them.

I'll check Ferreria's but afaik they a  lil hot. Any other suggestions?

< customer with OT for about 16 years, haven't had much to complain about with them. My current frame, I've been using for close to 5 years (it cost $3300 in total for flexon frame, prescription lens, transitions and anti-glare), had to change the lenses though about 2 years back.

IMO, anti-glare coating starts to degrade after 2 years, so then the cloudy issues will arise by then. If glare isn't that great an issue, then you can forego it...although it does help a fair amount for driving @ night.

OT is my current but they expensive as hell. I recently took my mom to an optical store in aboutique mall (the one next to supertech) - to the back. Surprisingly, the optometrist was superb, the service was fast and the lens and frames were very reasonably priced (i think she paid like ~1800 for everything) and considering i had hit OT earlier that year and dropped some ~2800 on mine, i was pretty ticked off. And it didn't even have none of that coating or nuttin on it.

I've been going to Joyce Ali for the longest while. No problems, everyone in there is extremely friendly. Paid $2000 for my glasses nw. N thats good considering my prescription is extremely high in one eye and they did a special order.
Guess who's back. Not me. :|

I'm pretty certain he means Auzonville...and their service is pretty damned good.

One month later and I still waiting on Absolute Vision for my glasses. Anytime I call them they asking me if someone call me, as though I bothering them nah.

I am absolutely ticked off right now. I am asking for a refund of my downpayment. Back to VO I go.

Make it worse, one of the arms on my current pair BROKE and is currently being held together by electrical tape and them only giving me the runaround, oh it still in the lab which isnt even in the country.

One month?? na. And this morning I call them. TWICE! asking for refund. They promise to 'call me back just now'. I STILL waiting for that call.

F**K that.

Absolute Vision Ltd Trinidad is the ABSOLUTE WORST. I admit, the African doctor was very pleasent and thorough, so I can advise people go there to be tested. After that, ask for your prescription and RUN. RUN like the wind from them.

Ok, so I call and real real real blast dem. Meh mother was feeling sorry for them when I was done.

On my way up to collect my refund (which i WAS going to collect before I left), the doctor called me, lo and behold, my glasses in hand.

Apparently, there was some mixup with them and the lab blah blah. Bottom line, ah get meh ting, after a whole month.

They lucky ah feel sorry after and pay the full price w/o demanding a discount.
