same thing i said dread.. lol i personally going for the 4Gig of Ram and the 8800GT they offering for the 999 one which works out to about 1500
thing is they sell these pc's really basic which is perfect for someone with a mouse/keyboard etc.. just swap out cases and your good.
they also instal i think its jaguar at no charge..me personally i not giving mr. gates anymore money

I gonna have to side with Arc here. The Asus EEE PC fits a particular need/usage environment. You can't just bash away at it jes because it doesn't have desktop-class performance. I intend to get one; just he 9 inch version. Uber portability is what i need above all else.

Getting back on topic, This Psystar offering definitely looks good. And considering you can run both Mac OSX and Windows XP/Vista, this be truly the best of both worlds.

Of course, I do wonder how long it will be before the Apple teleports Psystar to the nearest courtroom to shut them down faster than RIAA can sue for illegal music downloads...

ok in 'defense' of my last statement... when i meant crappy i was speaking in terms of gamer hardware.
agreed the eee pc does suit certain needs uber portability being one...
but gamerwise that thing probably runs minesweeper slow....

Cheap yes, but looks nowhere as good as an apple nor will it run as quietly as an apple. I give credit where credit is due and whilst I think apple NEEDS to bring out more affordable machines I have utmost respect for them when it comes to hardware design. Their cases, mobo layouts, airflow design, speaker positioning in laptops, EVERYTHING about the layout of an apple is top notch. These are just PC cases with apple-like parts. So it's like those SUVs... the Sanyo or whatever, sure it has a MERCEDES engine, but will it ride like a Merc? or drive like a merc? or look like a merc? I think not.
